About your wardrobe and personal style

Quick hello from Paris

We are having a slow start today after a late night, so I thought I would say hello! Excuse any typing errors as the keyboard is set for French, so it is slow typing for me.

We are having a wonderful trip and when I return I will share more - including a photo of the Chanel jacket I tried on in a second-hand shop and sadly had to pass up when I saw the 1392 euro price tag!

Have done mostly "window licking" because unfortunately the clothing doesnùt fit my 5 foot frame - sadly that includes Anne Fontaine blouses but I did have fun trying them on anyway!

Angie I donùt understzand it because it seems to me that there are many petite french women - where do they shop???

I am noticing a lot of white watches on everyone here, every where on everyone; and the tunic or shirtdress over skinnies look is also very popular. I am even starting to like this look. And lots of maxi dresses which I donùt care for on anyone.

If my family had more patience for shopping I think I would spend a day searching for the perfect glasses - so many shops with wonderful trendy styles. Otherwise I have contented myself with a few fashionable scarves.

I packed well and will share more about that later - for now I will just say the Me-toos I have worn most days except the few very hot ones: they make the feet sweat too much and my sandals worked far better.

My turn for the shower so thats all for now - miss you all!

Bonjour! So great to hear from you! I’m glad you’re having a splendid time.

The word petite came from Paris. I hear you - there are loads of short, tiny women walking around in that neck of the woods. But the clothes are for slim, tall people. Remember to go to a lingerie shop!!

I listed maxi dresses as my worst Summer 2008 trend. Yup, Europe is full of them. They look awful.

Have fun!

Thanks for taking time to check in with us and update us on your travels. Looking forward to the pictures.
I also couldn't wear the Me Too Swann's, they wouldn't stay on.

Sounds like you're having a wonderful time Shiny. Thank you for the update! It's too bad the Anne Fontaine blouses weren't a good fit, but can't wait to see the scarves you got!

Looking forward to your holiday stories!

My family completely indulged me today and I picked up a few items which I will share when I return.... a chanel like jacket (black with white trim but with a white bow at the waist) from Galleries Lafeyette and a cream fall jacket from Mango. Then we had coffee at Printemps.

The girls and I also did some fantasy shoe shopping at Printemps, trying on shoes that cost way too much.... and having quite a blast!!!

Angie I did check out some lingerie and was tempted by a Chantelle display but I had teens in tow so it was kinda akward....

Then later we ducked in C&A - which I remembered you mentioning - and my eldest DD snuck off and bought herself some lingerie wth her own spending money - which I only discovered later! The irony!

We leave tomorrow but I have to tell you about today.

We passed by a shop that sells nothing but pearl jewelry; mostly one of a kind designs: I popped in to make a beeline to this gorgeous necklace .... hard to describe but it was just SO ME!!! Multistranded choker length in various sizes of pearls in a soft lustrious pink with a gorgeous clasp. Most breathtaking necklace ever.

Unfortunately the price tag was 5700 euros.... ack!

Initially DH and I both saw the 5 as a dollar sign and both of us where thinking ..... eh ..... 700 euros while extravangant would be worth it: it was just so perfect, like it was meant for me and me alone (and heck its my bday). But add the 5 in front of it.... and um, Nope!!

The girls teased the next hour about how if we had bought it surely they would have fought horribly over which one would inherit the necklace after my death someday!!!

Well let me be the first to say Happy Birthday Shiny!

Glad your Paris vacation is going so well.

So, are Euros equal to dollars??

Posted 1 year ago

No, Euros far outvalue dollars--the necklace probably cost about $9100.00, American.

Ha! Great story! Happy birthday Shiny! Hope you have a beautiful day and get spoilt rotten. Even 5700 Euros rotten :-)
