Questions about the MK "Astor" satchel

Now that Marianna has thoughtlessly planted a new obsession in my brain, I'm very focused on the Michael Kors Aster satchel handbag in the "gunmetal" color. Has anyone seen this bag in real life? I have two questions about it:

1. Is this bag too large for a short person?

2. Is the "gunmetal" color a.) subtle and class-ily metallic, or b.) bright and blingy? There are pictures on eBay that make it look like each of these possibilities.

Remember, if you answer "yes" and "b," you'll be doing your part to protect me from myself. If you answer "no" and "a," you'll be a total enabler.

I have two of them: one in green and one in black and cream.

I HIGHLY recommend the silhouette. It's classic, but with an edge. Won't date and well worth the money.The quality is like Valentino and Prada. I've had the green one for 6 years and it still comes out to play. Looks virtually new.

I don't see gunmetal, but here are the choices on Nordstom's site just for kicks.

Well, ladies, you are not helping one bit. Marianna, I knew what you would say, but Angie -- your troublemaking side comes as a surprise.

San, thanks for the sizing information -- even though the eBay seller listed the exact dimensions, I was finding it hard to visualize and hoping someone would say, "OMG, I've seen it and it's a SUITCASE."

It's possible that I'm becoming a bag lady...

Go to Macy's and test the shape against your frame. That way you'll get a good idea.

Marianna, I meant to comment on your zipper handbag thread. I love that white zipper handbag! Is it in your budget and much cheaper than the MK bag? When I was 24, I was just starting out my career as a fashion buyer and there was no way that I could afford designer handbags unless they were gifted to me - no ebay back then. So I sported much cheaper handbags and felt just as fab. What I'm trying to say is that if you love that white zipper handbag, go for it. It's completely your style and matches your new white watch. I know it'll look killer. I'm not trying to make you spend money either. Just wanted you to hear how I feel about the situation seeing as I am SUCH a bag lady.

Angie, unfortunately, at 23 I'm already a handbag snob. I like expensive stuff. I already returned the white zipper bag because I wasn't in love with it. Even though it was considerably cheaper than the MK, I almost feel like it's a waste of money because I'm not crazy about it. I'd rather spend a bit more on a bag that I will love for years. I know inexpensive bags can look fab too -- just have to find the right ones!

After seeing the new Matt and Nat range, I completely sympathize with the other bag ladies here. I have been a Matt and Nat fan since the company's infancy, and the style of their bags and the material has improved so much since then. I still can't help but feel betrayed in a weird way. Now they're being sold at Neiman Marcus with jacked up prices to match, and despite my early support of them, I can no longer afford them

Oh April, I am so sorry to add to this, but the color is wonderful -- I love metallics and this one is great - better than gold or a true silver because the darker gunmetal tones it down just enough IMHO. I have this bag in the Lapis and love it -- otherwise I would have jumped on the gunmetal.

I have seen it at TJMaxx for $149. Theirs is in brand new condition, but does not have the dustbag nor the MK fob (I take those off anyway because the bumping against the purse gets to me . . . )

As long as it is NOT the Large satchel, the size is very medium and nice, but use your tape measure to be sure!

I guess I take back the Large part - that might be what it was called, but the body is about 9 inches tall, 16 inches East/West, and 5 inches front to back. Hope that helps.

I'm not of much help, either. I am not sure if I have seen the bag in person but I'm now obsessed, too. April, gunmetal is a gorgeous color. You must get it.

Maya, check out their Samsara line. All "vegan leather" and nowhere near as expensive. I have a cross-body bag from the line that I love.
