Quest for a Dress - Third Round, Looking For Opinions Please

I'm still looking for my "perfect" dress (or two) for a doctorate/birthday party and a wedding. All of these are from Nordstrom online. Do you think any of these have potential? I really appreciate everyone's feedback. Also, here's the link with the first horrendous dress and the second set of dresses:

The third dress (9-13) is hands down my favorite.

The only one I really dislike is the pokadot one; I think the ruffle looks kind of off a bit. I like the colour of the navy blue one; it is more formal than the others - that may be something you may want to take into consideration. For versatility, I think the first dress is the least formal that you could dress up and down; I like the black one, because we all need a fab LBD, no?

Well done! Despite the cap sleeves, I like the Adriana Papell and Suzi Chin best. How about a little black lace camisole or dickie for #9? FWIW, that's my top choice. You look amazing!

I like the AP dress in 9 the best in this set. The fit looks perfect! I also really liked the black/white floral from the last set. I know that one was deemed too casual for an evening wedding but the dress was lovely.

I like number 14, but would prefer to see the cleavage rather than the black thing sticking out.

Number three is the winner for sure but I also like number 1. The cut on three is very flattering for you and it is elegant too. Very good choices.

Congratulations on your PhD!!! (Several Dr.s I know refer to it as "piled higher and deeper" ;P ).

I like #1 (S Chin?) and #3 (Pappell) with 3 being the better dress in my opinion -- it's a very flattering LBD. #3 is definitely my favorite, especially like the tiers.

I prefer the AP 9-13 it looks amazing on you and love the V in the back. The Suzi Chin would be my second choice.

I absolutely prefer the AP dress for fit and flattery. I've seen their dresses on lots of different bodies and generally the styles seem to flatter many different women - including you!

I'm another vote for the AP dress, which is by far my favorite. Just one small quibble: do you have to wear the camisole underneath? With evening dresses, I don't love the look of a camisole. Can you wear it without?

I like the first dress and the third one. The first one is really springy and fresh and accentuates your curves in a good way. The third one is flattering and sophisticated and feminine all at once! I vote the first one for day and the third one for night - now you can justify getting them both!

I vote the black (A. Papell) with a lacy cami. you could even sew in your own panel of lace rather than wear a whole cami.

Thank you all for the replies. (First though, a disclaimer: I am NOT the one who received the doctorate ... we were invited TO a doctorate/birthday party dinner/dance for a friend). It seems the Adrianna Papell and Suzi Chin dresses are the favorites.

lyn* - I agree something is "off" about the polkadot dress. I didn't really like it, but oddly that was my dh's favorite one (?!?!?) so I included in case I was missing something about it.

Angie - The Suzi Chin and the Adrianna Papell are my favorite dresses too. Embarrassed to admit I probably would have worn that same cami. I will look for something better to wear with it.

Hi Kappy, Your hubby is right in one way, the polka dot frock is great from the bust down, but unfortunately the cut is not right for you at the armholes; and it doesn't show off your nice neckline and hair like the AP one does (the angled cap sleeve on the AP frock is very flattering!) The polka dot would always need to be worn with a jacket over.

One thought: the AP looks as if it is pulling a little below your waist in the back (compared with the back of the London Times frock). Luckily, this just a minor thing that no-one else has noticed , so you could certainly get away with leaving it as it is. But if you have time, you could take it to your tailor for an opinion on possible tweaking of the fit.
