Are skinny jeans still in style? The reason I ask is because I always run cold, and love tucking skinny jeans into my boots to keep my legs warm. I also hate that wider-legged petite jeans are never long enough to wear with heels, which negates the purpose of wearing them as far as I'm concerned. For some idiotic reason, all petite pants have the same inseam length regardless of pant width. At any rate, I don't like the way I look in wide-legged pants and flats.

BTW, this is strictly for casual wear--not for the office.

BC, I'm not the arbiter of fashion, but I believe skinny jeans are fairly classic at this point, and you can get away with wearing them.

Yup. Skinny jeans have entered the realm of "classic." For sure you can wear them.

Thanks. I see there are still plenty of them for sale, so I assume they're not on their way out any time soon. I wanted to ask my fellow fabbers first, though.

Skinny jeans are classic, how do you feel about straight cuts as an idea for an alternative?

Definitely classic. For the wider leg jeans you could try looking at Lucky brand. A lot of their styles come in a choice of 30,32,34,36 length inseams.

Straight legs are kinda worthless, if you ask me. They can't be tucked into boots, for starters, and the shoes I wear to please my fussy feet don't look good with them.

IMO skinnies are going to be around forever. As for straight legs they are the hardest to style, as BC said. So far this year and last I am not seeing any kind of wide legs taking off at all. They have to be the right length and until they start making them all by pants length like mens they will not be that popular.

Great question!
I work on a university campus - it's a fairly elite one, and the students are relatively affluent. They generally dress well, though maybe they are not too fashion forward.
Either way I'm still not seeing them wear any wide length jeans or pants. It is all skinny jeans and athletic wear. I've seen the odd pair of culottes but generally on older women. I find it quite interesting to watch how fashions filter down, or not.

Skinny jeans and tall boots still seems to be the preferred casual winter uniform here in my neck of the woods. I do not see that changing any time too soon as the silhouette is practical and warm.

Thanks. My DDs have not veered away from skinny jeans or pants, either, and I haven't seen anyone in town or on campus wearing wide-legged pants. Only our intern has worn wide-legged pants to work. I can say she wears them well, but she's a lot taller than me and wears them long--the way they should be worn. I do believe the inseam has to be right to wear wide-legged pants. As with tops, I can wear some regular misses sizes, but need petite most of the time. So far, like I said, they make the petite inseam the same regardless of pant width.

I think I've heard people say that in terms of real-world style, denim trends change fairly slowly, because they're not an item with high wardrobe turnover. Once they're in your closet, they're there for a while. And they're more spendy than tops and t-shirts, so few people are willing to overhaul their entire denim wardrobe the moment trends change.

I still see plenty of people wearing bootcuts and wide leg trousers from a decade ago so I think it's going to be a while before I start to see the more current wide-leg styles here. The "hipsters" -- such as they exist in a rural community -- are still in skinnies for the most part, but the rises have gotten higher. It's the really low-rise skinnies that are looking somewhat dated to my eye.

I still love my skinny jeans and wouldn't be without them.

I did recently pull on a pair of very slim legging jeans that I used to love and they don't feel right any more.

I've read here that skinnies are classic. I'm in a college town and see them a lot. They are the predominant style.

In fact, I have only seen flares or wider styles on older more fashion forward looking women. I've personally invested in flares but will continue to wear skinny jeans even though they aren't my most flattering silhouette. (Bootcut and flares flatter me better)

This time of year is easier to play with different jean silhouettes, because your ankles won't be cold. But when it's colder and you want everything covered, that's when skinnies stay out in force.

When my feet and legs get cold, skinny jeans and tall boots are a necessity.

Skinnies are still my favorite, with all sorts of boots or shoes. I'm with you on the straight legs, though. I just don't care for them. They never quite work for me! And even though bootcuts (or flares with heels) are probably more flattering for my shape, I suspect I'll still wear skinnies most of the winter.

If i need a wax to wear the pants, it's too low rise--this is my mantra for weeding out "dated pants".

I'm getting used to high rise skinnies. Wide legs are next on my list of things to get used to...

Wide-legged, cropped pants are EVERYWHERE here! They are coming to a town near you, I promise.

I'm not yet sure what I think about wide-legged cropped pants. I bought some cropped pants (not jeans) that are a little wide in the legs, but not overly so.
