Proper Pants length and skinnies

Hello - it's me, the stubborn child. First, I refuse to let go of my long skirts, and now I'm flirting with ignoring the PPL rule.

But seriously, I am confused with PPL and skinnies - Angie's post said "at the ankle" was OK, but for some reason, I feel like the outfit I just posted on my blog is borderline....

Ignore my stupid pose - I am doing the Inspiration Calendar on Fab Finds Under $50, and I'm being silly by imitating the poses....

But I'd really like the YLF forum input on whether or not these pants are an acceptable length...

These don't look like skinnys to me...are they ponte,or denim..I just can't tell in the photo:(

They look like a straight leg dress pant.

I had the same thought as Taylor when looking at your photos. They don't look like skinnys, but tapered-at-the-ankle dress pants. To my eye they look too short except when tucked into the black boots. You might try them with flats, but they may still be too short. I really like your beads. Are they grey?

I guess I am confused about what "skinnies" or "skinnys" are. Heck, I'm not even sure how to spell them!! I thought that anything that tapered at the ankles were considered "skinny". Now, after investigating more, I realize that they must hug the ankles, and are usually snug even up through the thighs. My bad......

I think my only saving combo with these are tucking in the boots, or try flats...

I was confused about skinnys for awhile too. I even thought I had skinny jeans because they fit snuggly through the thigh and leg, but they were actually a slight bootcut because of the measurement at the bottom. Angie suggested in her "20 must haves for spring" post that the daring might wear tapered ankle length pants or harem pants. You may be ahead of the game but might want to style them with less volume on top. I think these were suggested to be most easily worn with heels.

oh.. you cannot tuck those pants into boots either! They are tapered pants, they are loose at the hips and tapered at the ankles, so they are no good for boots!

These pants might look quite nice with ballet flats I think. But I'd like to see the style in more detail though. I can't tell from the pictures whether they're retro or dated. I hope that makes sense.

SHS, I know you like to shop second hand and I understand that. You might clear up your confusion about skinnies, etc. though if you go to Nordstroms or another department store and try on jeans that are labeled skinnies, straight cut, etc. You can ask the clerk for help if you aren't sure. Just trying them cleared it up for me. I highly recommend doing this to see what the current fits are like. You will secondhand shop with more clarity.

I second Joy's suggestion. I didn't understand what a "skinny" was until I tried some on (and did not buy).
