Prom dress body type advice

Hey!

(Some kind of) Prom's coming up soon and I have no idea what kind of dress would suit me. (I don't live in America, but it's the semi-formal gathering when we're about 18 years old).

I'm pretty tall (175 cm - 5'9") and slender.

Measurements:

Bust: 80 cm/31.5 inch

Waist: 64 cm/25 inch

Hips: 92 cm/36 inch

I have long, small legs and arms, no big tights, and a small, defined waist. I think I'm some kind of spoon/bottom hourglass/possibly but I can't find any advice on it.

I would say you are perfectly pear not an hourglass because your chest is much smaller. Since you are slim I would find a dress that shows your figure maybe a sheath silouette but try as many shapes as you can because like wedding dress shopping you never know what you will like. You could also look at low back dresses because you have a smaller chest and waist this can be a classy way to show off some skin.

I'd wear something that emphasizes your shoulders, like a boat-neckline dress or a V-shaped neckline and as for the bottom part I'd keep it wide and flowy. I have almost the same type of body, but my thighs are slightly smaller, and I find that my upper half looks too small compared to the rest of the body. I feel best when I'm wearing boat-necklines as it gives me more width in the shoulder and bust area. V-necklines work as well.

Be sure to choose something fitted at waist.

I used to be your shape but shorter at your age. You don't want a wrap dress or anything low cut. In fact a boat or crew neckline would be good, or a narrow slit. A fit and flare dress that is fitted at the waist would be good. What is your shoulder measurement?

I've already bought a prom dress. It's a mermaid dress and I really like it! It is very fitted around my body and gives me some curves because there're (how do you call it?) breast pads? push up? inside the dress. It is a strapless dress, so my shoulders look a too broad (measurement was 44 cm/17.3 inch), so I'm planning to wear my hair down.

I'm still not sure about my body type, though. I could be a pear but my shoulders are wider than my hips, and I don't know if that still counts as a pear.
