PMWIW#2: girly layered plaid

I generally shy away from layered looks because I find them too fussy, but I used the camisole over the button down trick and it worked really well - everything stayed put!
I showed my progression of footwear as well since there have been lots of threads about "house shoes"
(1) worn with booties for preschool drop off
(2) worn with acorn indoor slippers (a bit silly looking,but warm)
(3) worn with white converse for a quick walk to my neighborhood coffee shop (it had already warmed up quite a bit!)

Jeans: kut from the kloth boyfriend
Flannel shirt: GAP, 2 years old
Sweater : Gap, navy ever soft, bought this year
Booties: Seychelles
Slippers: acorn

I think the 3rd shoe choice looks a bit too summery for November, what do you think?

Oh-- this is a great outfit. Interesting but still casual. I like the 3rd shoe choice, even for November if the temps were cool enough. Personally my feet get chilly and my arms get chilly but my legs are much more resistant to a little chill and it feels great getting sun on them with ankle pants if the afternoon light is strong.

Love this. I almost wore a layered top like you yesterday but it felt confining and a little too warm for the weather. The white jeans are perfect for Bay Area and the white Cons are playful and climate appropriate IMHO. The cognac bootie one is my fave though. Gorgeous!

This is stunning! I love it. White pants and booties. I am home with my sick kiddo, but am meeting someone for lunch while another friend kindly watches him. I may try to copy this.

What is the camisol over the button down trick? I haven't heard of that. Cute outfit and I like all 3 shoes choices.

This is terrific! I like it best with the booties for this time of year, but it works with the runners for the spring!

Very nice! My favorite is the first look, but I think the last one works too, especially if it's warm out. Not seasonally confused at all.

The camisole trick- I couldn't find the source but I read about it on some fashion blog.
Add a fitted tank of similar color to your sweater OVER the button down, under the sweater. I am wearing a navy tank in this case (this one) It pulls everything in and keeps it from shifting, keeps the tails of the shirt relatively smooth and facing down and smooths out the lumps and bumps from the button down. It also seems to stop the sweater from rolling up, which is my pet peeve.
Looks silly when you take the sweater off though

I think this look is lovely! My favorite is with the booties...you look so sharp! Like te cons too, but they are a fall back shoe for me

The outfit is cute! Love how the white adds a nice pop to the plaid and navy. The white converse ARE a little summery with the jeans, but if it's weather appropriate I say go for it.

Um, camisole trick?? THIS IS GENIOUS! How have I not heard of it before? I always struggle with the shirt under sweater look because I'm pretty curvey and it always feels like my shirt is bunching up under the sweater uncomfortably. I find myself constantly pulling the shirt down...I'll be this trick would be the answer.

Really nice. I think the shoes in 3 are ok but something a bit darker might anchor to the top half and your hair better. I just last week put away my sandals for the season so seasonal appropriateness is a relative thing!
