Planning my vacation

Time to start planning our 2015 vacation. My family has pretty much decided on traveling to the Berkshires, but we are trying to figure out the best places to stay and tour while there. To help narrow things down a bit more, we are leaning towards Massachusetts, but would be open to changing that and are looking to spend about 5 days there.

Any suggestions?

what do you like to do? are you and your family classical music lovers? art museum types? theater?art? or just hiking, biking etc? are you foodies or do you plan to stay somewhere were you will cook all your own meals?

@kkhards, we pretty much are up for anything, but definitely will not be cooking. I always like to try the restaurants in the places I visit.

Examples of past vacations are trips to NY Fingerlakes region where we hiked Watkins Glens State Park, visited a glider museum, toured Corning Glass (I love Corning Glass!), wine tasting, visited a castle and used their spa services and picnicked in the vineyards. Mystic Ct, - toured Mystic Seaport, the aquarium, lighthouses, Stonington, etc.

Funny, this is an area of the USA I've never visited but I had a dream about it the other night. Enjoy your vaca!

when i go with my family, we always stay in Lenox. its definitely more crowded than many of the smaller little towns, but it has great restaurants, shopping and of course Tanglewood (which is usually what we have planned the weekend around). its a great jumping off town….if you like art, i recommend the williams college museum, the Clark and Mass MoCa.
