I took my inspiration from the cover, also. I do not have any purple, though. All of the interpretations are wonderful.

Post and run - time to fix dinner - today's outfit was inspired by the colors, and complicated by Frankenboot. My original outfit would have been my red skirt, purple button down sweater, purple/pink/beige scarf, now here's the problem...nude stockings and nude heels. The outfit just would not work with black tights and Frankenboot, so this is what I wore instead.

Red skirt, bright blue blouse, black jacket, scarf with red, bright blue, black, and other colors, inspired by the colors on the album cover.

One great thing about challenges is that it forces me to put together items I normally would not. The bright blue blouse was purchased last year for my fantasy life of fancy events. I have worn it a total of three times, today being one of them!

Sorry for the tired look on my face - it was early in the a.m. with a full day ahead of me

Karie, that outfit is gorgeous on you! Glad the challenge inspired you to come up with it.

Deb, I like your colors with the white pants. The blues are so rich and pretty on you, and you look great in that red hat!

Aubergine, I like your interpretation with the print dress and black lace-up boots. That's a great outfit for any day!

Ornella, you are so clever! You look great in that outfit; the scarf is so fun.

Venus Cow, your posts make me smile!

Sara, your scarf is beautiful, and your outfit is perfect for letting it shine. I had the same starting point--I immediately thought of a scarf and built my outfit from there.

Great colorful interpretations today! I knew MaryK would have no problems (with any this week) I immediately thought of the colors and the blouse in #1 which was actually worn last week (and I did not feel like ironing the blouse today) so I went with #2. I focused on the colors as well with the large white (ivory for me) space and the multicolors. It also was our office Holiday luncheon so my red jacket was festive.

Here's mine, be back later to comment on everyone else's. I went a bit orthogonal with this challenge, not responding to the visual aspects of the cover but rather trying to recreate an outfit that I might have worn when this album came out. Since I didn't have a babydoll dress to wear with my fishnets and combat boots, you get black and denim. I had a different all-black outfit planned, but the temps have dropped here and I have a cold, so warm and simple was the call of the day. Bonus shot of my coat, which is the only clothing item I still own from my high school days - denim lined with flannel for a perfect 90s look. It was one of the first things I ever bought by myself with my own money.

As soon as I saw the album cover I thought of this tee. The watery yet intense shades are represented here. I added the necklace because I love this shade of bottle green. I added GAP perfect khakis in navy. I think I did alright.

I had a horrible time with this one; I think I'm just not very good at these types of challenges! At least, when the photos are so different from my natural style. I don't have any abstract prints in my closet, and it was hot today (high of 82 F/28 C) so I was constrained by weather stuff too. In the end, I decided to aim for darker, moody colours, purple, a bit of print and flowy pieces. I could wear lace up booties because of the heat, so I chose dark clunky shoes as most 90s-ish. And as I don't have long flowing hair, I added long flowing earrings instead.

It's fun seeing how much more varied today's outfits are than yesterdays! I can't comment on everyone's individually, because my arthritis is a bit cranky today.

Wow, I just love the interpretations here. Amazing how much variety there is. Mary K takes the prize for the easiest outfit, and Firecracker and Mo share the prize for the most fun poses, but I'm amazed how many of us found evocative prints or colours or shapes. I am sorry I can't respond to everyone in person today but I am wowed by several of these. Celia, Tracina, DV, Deb, Karie -- yours all stand out in my memory just now. And Sara -- that scarf is perfect!

Like MaryK, I had the perfect print in my closet, so this was pretty easy. My watercolor floral tee perfectly evokes the purple and green shades as well as the watery lines of the album cover. I added the plum colored handknit shrug since I didn't want to freeze to death. And of course I had to wear my Docs. I don't really have anything in the rusty red on the album cover, but I think the cherry color of the Docs is close enough.
(Funnily enough, although I am back home now, I actually had this tee in my travel capsule as well, but I didn't end up wearing it because I decided to do Abbey Road yesterday at the last minute.)

I haven't had time to get through all of the outfits, but I just had to shout out to MaryK and Firecracker on this one! I struggled with it, but you guys rocked it!

ETA, OK, looked through them all. So many fab outfits I don't have time to comment on each one, but tracina's skirt and Day Vies top...Oh, and Suz's scarf...so many FAB PRINTS. Something I really am short on in my closet...you ladies look fab!

So much fun to look at all of these!

For this cover I was attracted to the dreamy mood of the reds and blues and wanted to use a watercolory silk shell with those colors. However, my day was to be spent in a dirty warehouse unpacking toys, bending, lifting, and getting filthy. So I went with blue jeans for the blue, a red long sleeved tee for red, a very washable white denim jacket for the white background, and a dreamy, hand dyed blue and red scarf for the moody feeling.
I'll have to go back and enjoy everyone's outfits later.

Today's outfits are quite varied compared to yesterday's! So fun to see many of you taking inspiration not only from the album cover but from the lyrics as well. I also enjoyed seeing how everyone interpreted the business of this cover.

For this album cover I took inspiration from the spatial feel: lots of calm white up top, gradually getting more and more chaotic/colorful towards the bottom. So I started with a plain cabled cream sweater, then a peek of a white layer, then the busy red plaid, and lastly the dense cheetah print. Gold accents to play up the warm tones, cranberry lips as a nod to the 90s, and by luck my weekly Seahawks mani (this week is argyle!) sneakily provides some green/blue For outerwear, I went with my black oversized coat since it's got a 90s vibe to it, layered gloves, and a leo scarf for some double-cat action just for fun.

Wow, super creative interpretations. I enjoyed looking through this essentially living art gallery tonight.

When I looked at the album cover, I saw "soft" and saturated tones. So I chose my soft flowy shirt in a saturated blue, and paired it with white, for the white on the upper left portion.

I wore my darkest lipstick, but really only for the photo.

And I had wore a pendant with swirled colors, like in the bottom of the album cover.

I added my burgundy boots, because I liked the way they looked with it.

Before leaving, I added on a plum vest (that's actually almost exactly the color of the boots) for warmth, and because I thought the colors mimicked the album reasonably well. And I changed the swirly colored pendant to a longer chain (which length is better?)

I felt pretty good in this today - it's a fun challenge!

Everyone's having so much fun here, and, like JulieJohn, I've been missing out, because I didn't even know a challenge was in the making. Firecracker and Mo gave me big smiles with their posing creativity and each of you have displayed a pocket full of happiness for us.

Just wanted to pop in and say how much I like everyone's outfits!

Here's my take on this one! This is a planned holiday outfit of mine and I will probably post a separate post on it today for feedback. I think the color scheme matches. Right?!

Wow, how fun to see everyone's outfits! I wish I could invite you all over for a party and turn up the Alanis!

Oh man, such wonderful outfits today! I wish I had time to comment on each, so many creative takes... but am babyproofing furiously with drill and claw hammer and mouthful of nails today. Just had to say am dying over Firecracker's pose, and peacechick's rings, and Mo's cover pose, and MaryK and Neel's one-dress wonders, and Aida's nails (I was hoping at least someone would bring nails to the table in this challenge!)... and all the gorgeous boots and beautiful prints. Joy, may I just say I think this more casual-classy version is perhaps even more in keeping with the feel of the album? And Deb, so impressed you can use the same pieces (blue coat) for such different feels!

I just went through the entire post!! What brilliant colors and interpretations! I am in love with the beautiful scarves, the arty tops and colorful bottoms! Aida's nails, Firecrackers pose, peachchick's rings and Mo's close ups are such brilliant interpretations!

Manidipa - I love your pose too - Ready to kick butt with those awesome boots and with some hammer and nails!

I am just so loving all these interpretations! And Amy - you look soooo pretty in that lipstick!

To be honest, this album cover had me a bit stumped! I did love Alanis in the 90's though, so I decided to use her as my outfit inspiration. She is a tough chick and since I was going to a rock concert last night, I wanted to go with the tough chick vibe. I unfortunately didn't get a pic but my outfit consisted of some clunky boots (very 90's), black and grey leggings, long black tunic vest, shorter asymmetrical off the shoulder cotton cardi and a black cross body bag. My accessories were my skull earrings and my Fossil boyfriend watch.

I love the way this challenge is making us think of our outfit choices a little differently!

I am not normally much of a scarf wearer, but this one was perfect for
the colors of the album, with the mixture of orange, teal and purple.
And the white jacket on top for the top part of the cover. I forgot to
take a pic of my bracelet, but here's an old pic of it--the jewels
look like "little pills". And "I've got one hand in my pocket, and
the other one is giving the peace sign"...

Loving everyone's creative interpretations!
