Our plan was for me to pick up Maya and Tanya at the train station and head over to a vegan restaurant where we would meet Lisa for brunch. I was standing in the designated meeting spot when I saw a tall, lovely woman in a great oufit approaching. I knew it had to be Tanya based on two things: 1.) She was wearing these silver shoes, and 2.) She had the world's tiniest waist. While we were chatting and waiting for Maya, I got a call on my cell phone and it was Mae! She had forgotten about the meetup and was thrilled to hear where I was at that moment.
Maya arrived in an outfit of cutting-edge stylishness: short tweed shorts worn with tights and knee-high boots (more later about the boots); strong-shoulder jacket; bright red vegan bag and purple scarf. We headed over to the restaurant to meet Lisa, who was wearing gorgeous gray Cole-Haan boots and another fabulous scarf. (You'll see the outfits in the group photo in Part II.)
After brunch, we hit the streets. Within one block, a stranger stopped to compliment Lisa on her outfit. When we entered our first stop, Club Monaco, the tall, beautifully-dressed SA made a beeline for Maya to gush over her fashion-forward outfit. I found a beautiful sheer, purple silk blouse and made the first purchase of the day AND -- got a present from Maya! The yellow Fly London pumps that had failed to fit Maya, Angie, or Sihaya turned out to fit me perfectly. A Cinderella moment. (PHOTOS 1 & 2) ( I can feel Angie having an apoplexy, but I am hiking up my jeans to show the shoes -- they're not that short!)
Club Monaco was hard on Tanya as it's her favorite store and she is part of the SYC shopping ban, but she was a better sport than I would have been.
The next purchase of the day occurred at Cole-Haan, where Lisa got the most gorgeous flat oxfords -- in a stunning shade of dark purple. (PHOTO 3) Maya contemplated her first venture into a life of crime -- stealing the same shoes in her size -- but we managed to wrestle her out of the store and onto the sidewalk.
In Joan Shepp, Tanya found adorable infant ballet slippers and thus managed both to keep her SYC commitment and participate in shopping by purchasing a gift for a friend's newborn. (PHOTO 4) We ogled a number of out-of-range items including a hot pink coat with saucer-sized purple buttons. (PHOTOS 5 & 6). Hard to tell in the photo, but that button would fill the palm of your hand. Fabulous!
Stay tuned for Part II...
