Patent leather loafers--how long will the trend last?

Here at Second Time Around consignment Can't attach pic. Pair of Tod's loafers in great condition, burgundy, very beautiful but shiny! Extra comfy, feel like they'd be great walking shoes in Italy in October. Will end up $95. Pull trigger? No returns. Thinking pull!

Loafers or driving mocs? If they are Tod's driving mocs, I have some info. I've worn black patent Tod's driving mocs for years, so I obviously think they're classic. I love them, but need to warn you that they don't have enough support to be an all-day walking shoe.

I would think of them as classics. I bought a pair of cranberry patent loafers last year and have enjoyed them.

Yes, I like them a lot. It's the shininess and concern for how easily patent leather would get trashed. Can I wear in rain, will they easily get scuffed, etc.

Good patent can be more durable than leather (or so the sales woman at Clarks has lead me to believe).

I have had these Vince Camuto's for close to ten years. I do have new heals put on when needed. I always get compliments on them.
