So, it's been almost 2 weeks since hd's work party & you guys gave me great advice on my outfit. I promised to post a pic - sorry it took so long. Life sure gets in the way, eh? I used a black ribbon for the belt, and also as a headband in my hair.

The blue blouse under the argyle sweater vest is shte same as the one I wore to the party - just a different color. I love argyle. How can I accessorize this outfit? I wore dangly earings, but that was about it (and wiith my hair down you can't even really see them).

This one, the pic didn't turn out that great. We snapped it just before we left the house for the morning, and I was a little flustered. It's a double wrap belt, can you tell if it works even though my blouse is hiked up a little? It hasn't been like that for the rest of the day. Sorry about that.

Nice party outfit! And I adore the first work outfit with the argyle sweater vest over the blue blouse. Great layering! Love the colors on you. This would also look great over cream pants in spring, and with denim (pants or skirts). In terms of accessories, have you considered a bracelet? Or do you have happen to have shoes in a contrasting color? E.g. I could imagine red might work.

Aw, your son is so cute! And so are you - you have such pretty wavy hair and beautiful skin. Did you and your DH have a good time?

In order of preference, I like the striped shirt outfit the best! The double belt makes your waist look so teeny tiny, and wow you look fabulous in that shirt, it fits you really well. I love the necklace - can we see a close-up?

The argyle sweater - lovely color! I would recommend a long pearl necklace - that's the first idea to come to mind for me. There's something about mixing preppy with pearls that is appealing. A white watch would be fabulous with this outfit as well. And how about a yellow bag, or yellow shoes?

Do you have dark-wash jeans? I would love to see the argyle sweater and blouse with jeans. I'm not sure why. I think I prefer the black pants with the striped shirt for some reason. Or are they the same pants? Hmm, now I can't tell...

The skirt probably should be hemmed to the knee, but I think you already know that from the earlier thread. Had you tried the blouse tucked in with a skirt? I'm wondering how that would look?

Oh - and love your hair up!

Thanks for the compliments. We did have fun at the party. It's a new job for dh, and it was nice meeting some of his co-workers, oh, and the food was fabulous.

I almost wore my pearls with the argyle. And actually, after I got home from work I changed out of my dress pants into dark wash jeans. Great minds think alike.

The second outfit - the shirt is a fave of mine. I think I've had it about 5 years, and the pants in that outfit are actually brown, since the shirt is all earthy, orangy colors too. Shiny - you have a good eye. Both pants are identical except for the color. I have such a hard time finding pants that fit, and when these went on sale at my fave store, I bought black, brown & charcoal.

I'll try to get a close up of the necklace. It's a cool one I got at H&M & wear doubled all the time. Oh, I'm also wearing it in this pic, where it might be easier to see:

The black skirt is too long, and because it flares at the bottom it really won't hem well. I'm currently working on sewing a black pencil skirt that will replace this one, because really, this skirt is also a little too big. I don't think it's worth the tailor bill to fix it. I think my sil will enjoy it, though.

the argyle outfit is so fab! i like the idea of a long strand of pearls - maybe knotted?

my favorite by far though is the striped shirt outfit!! i like your hair pulled back like that! the belt is fabulous! perfectly accessorized outfit, christine!

Christine, I looked at that same argyle vest the other day. I ended up bringing home some solid ones instead (did you see the wrap ones?) that I hope can work as tops with camis under in spring/summer too.

You look very nice, and you wear those silky blouses so well. I noticed your lipstick shade too--it's great.

How cold is it where you are right now?

shell - heels are definitely on the list of things I need to buy. I actually just got a cute hidden wedge black shoe that will be better than the flats I wore that night.

Brianna - I tried one of the wrap vests, but it just didn't work for me. When I first saw that Reitmans had argyle vests, I really wanted one. I was so glad they still had one when I finally had some money to spend. It was almost 10 degrees the first half the week here, but a cold front is moving in today, and we'll be back in the double digits below for the weekend - minus twenty as lows for the next couple of nights. I'm just glad we had a little break from the super cold for a little while (about a week) to let some of the snow melt. Here in Lethbridge we're not used to tons of snow & really cold for long periods - chinooks always give us a break. This year has been bad, though. How are you faring where you are? BC is often more mild than we are, I think.

Angie - thanks. The belt is new, and I thought of you when I bought it. I wear my glasses every day. They need to be updated, too, I know. I'm hoping this spring I can get new ones. This is a year of overhaul for me, and it's so fun & exciting!

Fantastic, Christine! I’m glad we're on the same page. If you wear specs , they need to be the very best that you can afford. Once you update your specs, you’ll feel like you have a completely new style. I’m excited!

Angie - any suggestions on what I should look for in new specs? I have an oval face - I've always been told that means I can wear whatever shape I want, which is nice, but makes it way harder to narrow options down, know what I mean? I've always gone with a brown frame, but I'm thinking of trying something deep red this time, possibly, or maybe tortise shell. Whatever I choose, however, will need to last 2 years, until our insurance will help cover another pair, so I don't want anything too trendy.

Christine, I think it's usually way, way, way milder here on the coast of BC! The coldest it got during out Week of Snow was -10, and right now it's hovering around zero, which is very much on the cold side of normal for winter. The problem is how damp it is--the chill gets right into my bones. We've had fog for the last week! People from the interior and the prairies often say that it feels much colder on the coast, even if it's technically far warmer, because in their areas "it's a dry cold". I think that's probably true. And you get a lot of sun in the winter, right? We sure don't.

I waffle back & forth about whether I'd like to live on the coast. The milder temps would be nice (but I know that wet cold definitely feels colder) but I do like seeing the sun. Even though the sunniest days are usually the coldest days. Usually winter here is fine because the weather is always changing every few days. The temps yo-yo up & down, the snow comes & goes & comes again. When we lived in Edmonton it was bad because when the snow would come it would stay, and it would get cold & stay cold until spring.

The air is really dry here, too, which is hard on skin & hair. My hair loves humidity & curls so nicely when it's humid, but we don't get many really humid days here.

I guess no place is perfect, eh?

The argyle sweater with the blue silk blouse underneath looks marvellous and I love your striped blouse with the belt too (and your lipstick and your hair pulled back, and that cute little boy too!-)

And how exciting: let the hunt for new, fabulous glasses begin!
