I had to put together a quick outfit for a concet tonight. I wanted to use this green shirt. I had posted an outfit earlier that didn't quite make it:

I *love* the layered sleeves and dramatic gold bangle(s?)! I think it looks much better. The jewelry gives it enough of a kick without making it too fancy.

I agree with CS that something about the shoes is off, but they're not terrible and don't ruin the outfit. I just feel like they would look better under a pair of bootcuts or wide leg jeans, rather than skinnies.

That's the Jean we know and love! Great job adding the gold accessories and earrings and scarf. You wear those rich neutrals better than anyone I know!

I really like the outfit...creative, yet classy.

I think that I would prefer a ballet flat, or a strappy sandal, or tucked-in knee boots with this ensemble. I think that the Mary Janes look clunky with the skinnies...too heavy a shoe, visually.

I love it all! Those maryjanes with their heels are just the right funky touch IMHO. I have earring envy as I can't wear anything as long. You look fab!

I love the combination of the voluminous sleeve on the green top with the sleeker sleeve of the blazer. I'm seeing a lot of this shorter-sleeve-over-long-sleeve look lately, but this is by far my favorite. Wow!

Fantastic job Jean. I bet you get lots of compliments. Mary Jane's work for me with the outfit though it would be fun to see with some other shoes - another opportunity also to add a contrasting color.

Hi all, thank you. I did receive complements last night and someone commented on how my art is reflected so consistently in how I dress. That is in large part because of all the encouragement I receive from this community. I feel much more comfortable being creative and not worrying about what my academic and fashion suspicious colleagues may or may not think. I used to be more concerned and likely worried needlessly, people enjoy creativity in all forms!
BTW, I actually like the shoes, they are funkier than they look but appreciate all comments!!

Smashing! I really like different sleeve lengths and how the bracelets add to this theme. I'm taking mental notes.

Jean, I'm so glad you're feeling more comfortable about expressing yourself with your style and not worrying about suspicious colleagues. It's something I have to work on as well.
