Out of date fabric?

Along with others, I'm trying to put together an interview outfit and I'm wondering about this Ann Taylor suit I bought 5 years ago. The fabric is a sort of rayon, fine weave, and I'm not sure this is still worn. If you're familiar with Ann Taylor, for a while they were doing tons of the stuff. I'm trying to think of some other way of describing it, can't do a picture right now.
Anyone have an idea of what I'm talking about? And if the suit is just too old?

Sinead, are you talking about AT's "triacetate" line of dressy clothing? If so, I can tell you that they still sell many jackets, pants, and skirts of that fabric. The big selling point of the triacetate line was that any piece would go with any other piece. (I think they're all black -- is that what your suit is?)

If that's it, as you can see they're still making plenty of it, which would suggest that your suit fabric would be just fine. I guess I would more question the cut than the fabric -- what do you think about that aspect of it?

Sinead, April is correct. This Triacitate is exclusive to Ann Taylor and is made for this reason. Years down the line if you would like to add pieces to your suit or change it up with a more current look , you can simply add new pieces and the fabriic matches exactly..color, weave, everthing.

We sell tons of these suits so you may feel confident in this suit no matter how old it is.

I have women who come in with 10 year old jackets but want a new pant..and vice versa.

It looks a lot like the jackets on that page, really close, fabric and cut wise, but mine is in a very small pinstripe. Might be a little stuffy worn as a suit, but maybe as separates? I don't know, I think I'm freaking out a little because it's been so long since I've been on a job interview. I have no idea what to wear, and the whole suit thing just seems like too much. I love the ideas that have been posted about wearing separates, so I'm going to see if I can get pictures put up with a few pieces mixed together, see what you guys think. It'll take a few days.

And thanks, Taylor, good to know. I just realized I have a pencil skirt in this fabric, would work with the jacket, and might be able to use the skirt I got at the swap. Hmmmm. Maybe I can do this...
