Organizing hair accessories?

I have recently grown my hair long enough (chin length) to be able to wear hair accessories: headbands, clips, interesting bobby pins. Right now I just throw all of the stuff in a ziplock bag and have to hunt to find what I want. How do those of you who wear hair accessories organize them?

I have some handmade ceramic lidded containers, in graduating sizes. I keep them on the bathroom counter and they hold my stuff, looking pretty and hiding the chaos within.

I don't wear them now, but used to. I used an old web belt of my husbands and clipped or fastened most of my hair accessories to it along the length so that I could see them when it hung on the back of my closet door. It works for scrunched, barrettes, pins and clips. Think of the belt as a ponytail.

Not as pretty as Adelfa's suggestion, but I like to use mint tins for pins and rubber bands.

I don't wear it up at the moment but when longer I like to have a good supply of bands in black and blonde, and bobby pins. I never managed to wear scarves or Alice bands and look any good!!

I have long hair which I often wear upstyled away from my face. Hair accessories are an essential for me. I have a draw in the bathroom with four clear, hard plastic, lidless boxes. One has hair elastics, one has bobby pins, one has hair clips for ponytails and one has those hair combs you use for up dos. Then along side, I keep my brushes and combs, plus a hand mirror to check my hair from all angles after I groom.

I store my hair elastics in my purse or my pocket or a box on my dresser, and then my cat finds them no matter how hidden they are and pulls them out and drops them in her water bowl.

Thank you for all of the suggestions! Sorry it has taken me a while to check back in...things have been crazy here lately.

I think I will try some kind of small containers, possibly tins, which I might be able to get on the cheap at Goodwill. I think what will help the most is dividing up the accessories into groups, one group per container, so that I don't have to dig so much. Clutter drives me nuts.
