I bought this beautiful blazer at the Rack in Honolulu a while ago. Apparently I didn't pay much attention to the shoulder fit when I tried it on. It's not uncomfortable, but there are shoulder pads that my broadness (let's say my muscular arms, to be positive) push outward, so the sleeve doesn't hang right. It would best fit a true 4 or small 6 with average or smaller shoulders. From shoulder seam to should seam along the back it is 15".

It is BRAND NEW, smoking wool, silk trim, one button, vent in back, HELMUT LANG. I've hoarded it in my closet hoping to shrink my bones but alas, I remain an IT.

It was originally $600, I paid half that, and I'm asking $175 plus shipping. PM or post if interested, otherwise I'm dropping it off at consignment next week. Would love to see someone here in it...

Can you cut out the offending shoulder pads? I hate to see this go from your closet.

I seriously thought about that, abc. But I think it would ruin the jacket - the sleeves seem to be built around them. My shoulders are not only wide/square, but my upper biceps bulge out (not like I'm super in shape, but from climbing) so that's really the issue.

so sorry to hear it. Could you take it to a seamstress for confirmation? I am not ready to let this one go (like it is my own) as you can tell - the one HL item in my closet is amazzzzzzzzing so I feel ya on this one.

Hi AG! This blazer really interests me. I am usually a size 0 or 2 at BR and Gap. I'm 5'3" with a strong shoulder line but I'm an hourglass not IT. I measured my black BR suit jacket (size 2) and the shoulder seams are about 14.25 inches apart. Do you think this would fit me? I'm in Canada (northern Alberta), would that be a problem?

Hmm, maybe I'll post a pic of me in it. It's GORGEOUS. But I am usually a 6 at BR and Gap. Will show you the shoulder issue and you can judge for yourself.

Yes although I think the shoulder fit is key so it doesn't look sloppy. Will post pics of me wearing it...

On a hopeful note -- I just received a lovely gift from a forum member of a BR trench that she decided wasn't "her" and was on the snug side across her shoulders anyway.

We were not at all sure it would fit me -- I usually take XS at BR if the sizes are not numbered and this is a medium. Well, guess what? The fit is perfect, including sleeves.

Hopefully this gorgeous jacket will fit you the same way, Tina!

I have too many blazers so I'm not going to jump on this one, but some more fit info:

My Helmut Lang smoking jacket with short cutoff sleeves is a size 4 and it fits me. I am usually a 2 in jackets in most brands including Helmut Lang. I have broad muscular shoulders/back/upper arms just like Una! So I suspect this blazer would be just about right on me.

Greyscale I suspect it would. And Suz, I think this is like a Theory size 6 so maybe a little big for you? Somewhere between you and me? Although my shoulder fit always tries sizing estimates off.

Yeah, a Theory 6 would be lots too big for me. I'd be a 2 or 0, depending on the cut of the particular jacket. Rarely, rarely, rarely something bigger.

I tried on a HL jacket today in Winner's (not this jacket, mind you) and a 2 was actually (surprisingly) sort of big on me. Or just overall bad fit, maybe.

The length looks good. It looks like a small 4 to me by the fit in the upper arm area. What size do you buy in places like BR or Gap, if you don't mind me asking. I often fit an xs but size up to a sm for a roomier fit.
However, if you think this would be too big on Suz it would likely be too big on me as well. We are very similar in size.
Still hemming and hawing over here.

I am a 4 or 6 at Gap depending on style, and always a S. What is your body type? I think that is part of it too. Shoulders are a big fit issue for me.

Okay, after a gruelling photo session I've managed some selfies. I am an hourglass by proportion. I am narrow from the front view, my inches come more from depth in all areas (well excepting my bust but whatever). So here are some pics, I hope they help. My bust is about 33", waist 25.5 - 26"", hips are 34", my shoulders are 36" around the widest part and about 14.5" across. My arms are also not small but they are fairly straight. I am coming to the conclusion I may be short waisted as well, would you agree?

I am terrible at figuring out body types and waist ratio. Could you post these on the forum? There are so many people who are good at it!
