Next organizational challenge: What's waiting to be tailored?

Now that you've made all your returns -- you HAVE made all your returns, right? -- the next biggie is to take at least some of your waiting-to-be-tailored items to the tailor.

I'm much worse about this than I am about returning things, particularly since it incurs an expense instead of removing one. Right now, I have two jackets and a blouse waiting to be taken in -- and one of the jackets is from NAS! Sheesh. That was in July.

How about the jackets that I usually wear ut haven't hemmed the sleeves....2
1 pair of jeans (that I also wear)
And I'm sure you will tell me on this forum that some other items I wear need alteration

1 pair of cropped jeans to be shortened to knee length
1 pair of un ppl trousers to be shortened to city shorts
1 dress to have a hole fixed
1 shirt to be nipped in slightly at the back and embarrassingly this pile has been on the banister since before the summer hols- end of July!!! Mum and I intended to do them during the holidays, you'd think in 6 weeks we'd have found the time!!!! x

High five, Louise -- I'm right there with you.

The gray Halogen jacket from NAS was originally purchased in a petite, which YLF felt looked a bit skimpy, and then in a non-petite, which YLF felt looked a bit big. (Both were correct, incidentally, and I'm not complaining -- just noting that this jacket has been a whole lot of fuss!)

Ugh. My pile has 3 pairs of jeans that need to be shortened and one of those also needs the waist nipped in. 2 pairs of thick knit pants that I want made into skinnies. And one ponte dress that I want shortened to tunic length.. This pile has been sitting there for almost 3 weeks now...ever since I did my last closet edit. I also have a pile set for the consignment store (and I suspect that will be the next organizational challenge!).

The pants for my suit NEED to be taken in at the waist. I tried holding them up with a belt today but was not successful. Eek!

Do you take everything that doesn't fit to the tailor? Or do you think I should just let this suit go?

White jeans that I will get hemmed during my Tahoe trip next month. And I'm toying with the idea of tailoring some satiny black dress pants into more of a cigarette pant style.

yea, this pile is bigger than my return pile.
I need to hem a pair of jeans , remove the sleeves from a dress and possibly make a tunic into a v-neck... I keep going back and forth on that one.

This one I'm great with- I have nothing to be taken to the tailor (and I take LOADS).

Most recent trip was 2 pairs of pants that needed hemming and the waists taken in and a jacket that I had the shoulder pads taken out of. It certainly isn't a cheap exercise but my tailor is a genius- that man can take inches out of the shoulders of stretchy wool tunics!

I really do have no excuse either- the tailor is 3 mins walk from my house!

I used to have a tailoring pile. Out of boredom, I just hacked into it and fixed the stuff myself. It was minor things: Lowering the hem on a skirt, moving buttons on a trench and fixing the sleeves on a blouse. All done yesterday.

After reading and learning about PPL, all my jeans (as I don't have other pants right now) need to be hemmed SIGH. I'm wearing skinnies and leggings now, avoiding that issue, but I really need to get to the tailor's. Soon. Thanks for asking LOL ;PP

Oh, I have a huge pile, mostly a bunch of bottoms to be hemmed: 3 pairs of jeans, one pair of pants and a pair of tweed shorts. This needs to go tot he tailor. Plus there are a couple of jackets/tops they lost buttons and I need to re-sew them.

I haven't participated in the others, but I do need to chime in here. Things I need tailored:

- Buttons resewn on Boden blouse (grrr to Boden! I can do this myself)
- BR Martins lengthened (want to take to alterations place tomorrow after I wash today)
- Black winter wool skirt needs hemming as hem has come down (have not yet decided whether to do this myself or take to tailor as I have procrastinating on it for nearly 6 months!)

I'm sure there are other things I can find too if I go looking. That's just off the top of my head!!!

My bigger pile is the things I need to do myself - move buttons, little waistband darts, etc. There are at least 6-8 things - some from *last* winter!

But I have my BR Martin skinnies from last spring (!) that I need to have the waist altered. I could really use them too. . .a lot of outfits are waiting for them!

(can you tell I am a huge procrastinator?)

Now this one I can say I have nothing for at the moment. I'm pretty good about getting things dry cleaned and tailored. Much faster at these than returns for some reason.
