New La Canadienne boots - OK for skirts?

I have recently bought La Canadienne Galaxy boots and I love them:

There is about 0.5 " gap. Can I still get away with them for skirts or should I have the cobbler take them in?
Also. for those of you who already own LC suede boots, which are supposed to be waterproof, do they require any kind of treatment before wearing?

I think you can get away with them. They look fine from the front and from the side there is hardly that much gapping. They look fine with a skirt (great actually). If it doesn't say it is made of waterproof suede in the description, I would assume it isn't.

Thanks Maya! I hope others will approve as well.

Zappos does say that thy are completely waterproof, I am just very nervous about that. I have never spent so much on boots before and I really want to take good care on them.

The boots look very nice Tanya, if the suede is waterproof I would be worried of damaging the look of the suede with a treatment spray, have you bought a decent suede brush for cleaning?

LC is a good brand and I would be inclined to trust what they say. But the waterproofing is still only temporary so you would have to get them re-treated eventually.
