Finding the items you need at the right price

need help with shoes

Hi again,

I've had a terrible time trying to find some low heeled ( 1 - 1 1/2 ") pumps that I could wear with both skirts and pants. I want something comfortable but sassy. I tried the Fly London pumps Angie has but they didn't work for me. I do want to be able to wear them with tights/hose and don't really want to spend more than $100.00. Plus, I don't want to get black - I was thinking of grey, red or even an animal print.

Any suggestions!????

Your plight is my plight! Why didn't the FL pumps work?

I didn't find these sufficiently comfortable, but I don't really find anything comfortable so I don't think I'm a reliable gauge.

They are also over $100, but they are animal print with a low heel and they look absolutely gorgeous on. They remind me of Audrey Hepburn's shoes in Breakfast at Tiffany's. If they go on sale they might be worth a try.

Angie - the FL's only come in whole sizes and I'm a 7.5. The 8's were too big and the 7's were too small. It's sad because they looked very comfortable.

Maya - i think those are very cute and wondered how sturdy they were. I'm not familiar with Sam Edelman quality - did they look like they would hold up?

Juli, they are pretty sturdy and good quality, but the material of the two animal print versions perplexes me. It's...furry. I'm not sure what exactly it is. So I don't know if it's something you would want to wear on a rainy day.

My most comfortable dress pumps (low-ish heels) are ECCO brand, but I'd say you'd need to try some on before buying, as I think their sizing is a wee bit different.

Here's a link to a bunch on Zappos - and while they're not under $100 - you can often find them on sale at department stores, Amazon and so on. These may not be 'sassy' enough, but they're definitely comfortable:

Sometimes there are slightly lower prices for these on Amazon.

These look kind of neat - in the plum:

Not as nice-looking as the Sam Edelmans that Maya posted though.

editing to add: I have shoes that are 7.5 and 8's as well - it seems to depend on the brand. In the ECCO brand, I take a Euro 38, and it fits perfectly and comfortably.

Juli, have you tried popping gel or foam inserts into the FL pumps? It may make them a good fit.

Velvety - I do like the Ecco's. I've never tried them so maybe I'll give them a shot. The only minor issue is that all the ones are like are a bit higher than I said I wanted. :-) Joy - I did try putting inserts into the FL pumps - unfortunately that didn't work either.
