Need Help on Sizing-KC Silk Tunic

I want the tunic to fit my shoulders instead of the way it is shown on the Nordstrom site. I'm an inverted triangle so I'm always concerned about things fitting too tight across the back of my shoulders.

If I size down one size, will that be enough to get the shoulder seams at the edge of my shoulders?

i'm not familiar with this piece but i would think as an inverted triangle you wouldn't need to size down for the shoulder fit. the model is probably a rectangle or an hourglass.

Donna, I have this tunic in the 8p. I went off the size chart and figured that in petites I usually size up rather than down. My bust is 35.5 and I went with the next size up. I have broad shoulders and the 8p fits across the shoulders perfectly. Does that help?

Kellygirl, That is helpful, thanks. I would also need the petite and sometimes I do size up in a petite and sometimes I don't need to. I'm small busted so the issue for is usually the shoulder area. I think I remember Laura saying she sized down, that's why I was thinking I might need to.

Mel, I was hoping to get some feedback on this specific item because I know it's been popular around here. Thanks though, I really appreciate the help.

If you are petite like Laura, I would size down. I'm only petite in height. I have trouble with shoulders, back and arms. If you are broad but slim, you could definitely size down.

I am considering this piece too, and I remember discussions here around NAS that it was running big in the shoulder area, so most of the ladies who got it sized down.

Kellygirl, Thanks, I am slim and since my bust is small when something is voluminous like this tunic I do sometimes need to size down.

About the shoulder fit - I tried both 2 and 4, and the shoulder seam hit in approximately the same spot. 2 was a bit slimmer overall and the sleeves were noticeably shorter. I went with 4 - it's more voluminous, but the fabric drapes very well so it's not an issue. I am not petite though, so it might not be relevant.

Hi, Donna! This is a tough one! I have a large bust and broad shoulders. I normally take a size 8 (depending of course on the particular item.) I found this tunic to be a bit oversized. I tried both the 8 and the 6. The real difference I found was the volume in the body - not so much at the shoulders. I choose to go down to the 6, since I felt it was already voluminous enough. For me, I felt the larger size looked like it tented out (ever so slightly) at the bottom, whereas the size down was still tunic-like and flowy, but just a tad less volume.

I also loved the cream color, which only came in petite. For that one, I ordered the 8P (figuring that I would have to size up in P anyway.) They were sold out of the 6P, so I couldn't compare. Even the 8P is way plenty tunic-y and volume-y.

My feeling is the difference is not enough to make it feel like either would be the wrong size - I just preferred the ever-so-slighly less voluminous size down. I guess it just depends on how much volume you like!

Marianne- Thanks, your info is very helpful. I'm really leaning toward sizing down because I am petite and too much volume can overwhelm me.

Tara- I appreciate your detailed answer! Your comment and Marianne's comment regarding the shoulders and the volume difference makes me think that the smaller size will be better. I also love the cream color but it doesn't look so great on me so I think I will go with the black. Do you find you are wearing both colors?

I'm here! I agree, size down. I have a 4P and the shoulder seams still are slightly off my shoulders, but the length is perfect. I could have probably worn a 2P but they were sold out - and I didn't want it to be short.

The model on the Nordstrom site wore it the same way, with the seams off her shoulders. Do you think this is intentional or does it run so big they couldn't get a size to fit the model?

Anyway even if the shoulder seams are slightly big, it suits the loose, easygoing style. You will love it!

Laura - I'm really thinking I should get the 2P. I would prefer the shoulder seams to be as close to the edge of my shoulder as possible and the length is a bit less of a concern for me. I am wondering about the sleeve length though. Marianne's comment concerns me. I do have short arms so they might be okay.

I was wondering the same thing about the model. It seems that this shirt really runs big so I think it's a result of the sizing.

I have the 2P and the shoulder seems are slightly dropped. I couldn't tell if this was the style or because I just have narrow shoulders, but it didn't bother me either way.
