NAS: What I got (and am returning)

There was a LOT of nice stuff at the sale, but I was surprised at how much I was able to eliminate from consideration. I ended up trying the following items (and many more which didn't work for lots of reasons):

Lantern coat: This was really cute and I loved the color but it was too unflattering on me.

Collarless topper: Loved it but decided I didn't need another coat

Leather peplum top: I love this but in seeing the picture it's reallly not flattering and I have to keep tugging it downward. Sigh. It's going back.

Striped cardigan: This looked cute to me in the store but my SA was right; it's awful on me.

Michael Kors jacket: This actually looks way better on than either the model or my picture. Two shoppers and two SAs ran to try it after seeing it on me. However, do I need another black jacket?!

Jacquard skirt: I really loved this skirt but again, do I need a skirt? It's a lovely heavy material that could be worn year round here.

There was also this Zella hooded jacket which doesn't apepar on the site but is the fabbest piece of gear I've seen in a while, and I am keeping it. It has a hood! And thumb holes! And is flattering!

I saw LOTS more but nothing really screamed out to me as keepers. The tree print skirt Janet got is fab, but way too long for me. Everything by Rachel Roy is made for the tall and slender. No shoes that begged me to come home. Hmmph.

Would love opinions on the skirt and MK jacket; everything else is a return.

I like the MK jacket on you but if you have equally fab jackets already, it may not be worth adding another. Could you throw up pictures of your others so we see how high you've set the bar already?

I only vote yay on the skirt if you can wear it with at least two tops without even trying. How does the skirt length feel to you? I think my eyes have adjusted to longer lengths so I'm a little iffy on the shorted pleated skirts (tried a plaid one on at NAS and felt too schoolgirl)

I think the MK jacket looks great and is very "you" but like Sylvie I don't remember what your other black jackets look like. Do you feel that it would get use along with your other ones? At first the skirt didn't seem very exciting by the pictures, but after clicking on the link, I really like the texture. I think it's cute with the Zella jacket in 5! Do you like wearing short skirts? My eyes have readjusted so I don't know if I could wear short skirts much anymore.

I'm not sure about the skirt length either... Or the whiteness --- it feels girlier than your usual style to me... What were you thinking of pairing it with?

The jacket, though, I like very much. I'd vote keep, unless you have as many black jackets as Ironkurtin It seems like a great work piece for you, and could be worn more casually too.

And it is really a pity about that peplum top not sitting right --- so your style!

The only ones that sings Una to me is the leather top...so it is sad to hear it is annoying but I know how that is....nevers gets worn! All others are nyah! even teh MK jacket. I don't see the fab you described!

I too love the leather peplum top the most, though I also like the Zella hoodie on you. I'm undecided on the skirt...wish it were a bit longer.

I passed on a black jacket because I have others, but given that I still thinking about it, maybe I need to reconsider that decision!

I love the MK jacket and if it is different enough to your other black jackets I would keep. I would like to see the skirt styled as I can't picture how you might wear it.

I like both the skirt and the MK jacket. The striped cardigan may not have worked out but that yellow color is super nice on you!

I didn't give that skirt a second glance in the store (too short and full for me), but I think it looks great on you! I can see you edging it up with black leather jacket and boots. I like the MK jacket if you don't feel like its redundant in your closet.

The cardigan? Yeah, not my favorite.

I think the leather top is *very* flattering, but I hear you on the tugging. Back it goes. :T

I like the MK jacket, but I don't love it to the point that it needs to compete with your other black blazer that is so so perfect for you.

I do like the skirt a lot and think it's a great one to wear with untucked tops - instant drop-waist dress effect!

LOVE that gear jacket. Love love love... rare that gear outshines all the fashion, but it does for me.

I love the sophistication and polish of the MK jacket. I don't know your black jackets that well but the only one I can remember is the Frenchi tuxedo and the Gibson knit riding jacket. Those seem to fill different needs. I think the skirt is cute but it doesn't look UWP to me. Perhaps its the color that throws me off. It has kind of a girlish vibe.... Just my 2 cents. The leather topper is to die for fab on you. I'm totally weeping that it doesn't fit right. That is SO you!

LOVE the gear jacket. What size did you get. That's one thing I could really use.

LOVE the MK jacket!!! WOW.

Return the cardigan. The yarn is too gauzy. I had it on several clients and it's not so fab.

I 100% vote return the skirt. I know it well. It does not fall nicely, drape or move when you stride. It's pleatherette. Just too "cheerleader" and juvenile, Una.

FWIW! That's my opinon.

Great picks!! I agree with Angie on the sweater and skirt...but love everything else.

That black blazer is unique and looks absolutely incredible on you. I think it would look great worn casually or with edgy workwear ensembles. I think it's impossible to have too many blazers I have 3 navy ones in different styles and wear them all!

Love the MK jacket. I also love the leather top: it looks so "Una" and it's very flattering. But if it's going to be annoying to wear then I'd return it.

Agree that the cardi needs to go back. The skirt feels short to me:/

Uh, I love the skirt and just ordreed one for myself. Angie, it comes in pleatherette and jacquard and Una's is the jacquard.

As for the jacket, we lady lawyers ALWAYS need a black jacket and that one is to. die. for.

And, uh, what size is that leather top? If you're not keeping it, might you consider selling it to me? It's sold out online in all sizes except XS and L.

Angie, I got the jacquard skirt from Hinge. It's a heavy jacquard in a light grey. It is not the pleather that I saw which was stiff and not very nice. Does that change your opinion?

Yay on the MK jacket - I LOVE it.

Keep the leather tank? Should I size up to keep it from riding up? Or will it stretch? This is a PM. I'm thinking I might need a regular M.

I may size down on the Zella jacket too.

Not much for me, but I know you all are finding lots!

I think by going for a regular size in the leather tank you might gain just enough length in the torso that it won't ride up.

It's so fab, I think it's worth a try!

I love that leather top!! I'd always figured such an item would be too harsh or bikerish but this is wonderful on you. Too bad you have to keep tugging it - it looks great. Hmm, maybe I will consider it. I'm short waisted anyways lol.

Wow, love for the leather tank! I am STUNNED - I look at it and all I see is BOOBS! But I could adjust my attitude, if the fit were not bothering me. I mean, it is so UWP...

Maybe I will see if they have a regular M when I go in to return and exchange the other items. Sizing is so strange - I'm an XS in Equipment and a M in this?

Una, maybe you and I should have traded tops! I am having my leather top altered because it is too long from bust to shoulder (I have that problem a lot). Mine is a Medium. I wonder if I could have worn it in a petite considering how short-torsoed I am. I wear a small in Equipment -- I could almost do an XS except then they wouldn't fit around my hips.

It's funny, I actually thought the top sort of de-emphasized my boobs a little, which is weird for a high-necked top. Maybe the peplum helps to balance things a little.

interesting, Janet. My problem is that the bottom part rides up - not sure if my boobs are making it pull or if my torso is longer than I think. All these fit issues STILL confuse me!

So do you feel (honestly!) that it is not too boob-alicous on me? That is always my big hang-up with more fitted items.

Do not, I'm afraid, love the leather peplum. I feel it shortens you visually, in the torso.

More love here for the UWP leather top. If you will wear it, it's fantastic. Hourglassy - not top heavy. I want to see you lawyer it up.

I like the leather top, but it's kind of hard to get a sense of the fit with the way the light is shining on it. I wondered about this top for myself, but then I was completely stymied by the upkeep. I would only wear it with a jacket over it, so then wouldn't one sweat in it and need to have it cleaned all of the time? I'm just not sure that leather and my armpits are a good mix :).

I love the jacket--I agree that one cannot have too many. I have two and am actively seeking a third!

I like the skirt but it seems more like a summer item to me. I can see it with bare legs and your new flat Frye boots, but not sure about with tights in the colder months--e.g., what color of tights would work? I think black would be too harsh.

Just my rambling two cents, of course!
