NAS Loot Part 5 Jacket Edition

Hi,

This is going to be a long one. I am always cold, so I went jacket crazy during NAS. Unfortunately now I am buried in jackets and am struggling to decide which to keep. I seem to like them all.

I am trying to build a collection of jackets as a cardi alternative for work. I wear jeans (almost) everyday. I am looking for:
3 jackets to wear indoors with jeans
1 jacket as outerwear for fall (motorcycle/bomber idea)

Thanks for helping me choose!

#1-Halogen Asymmetrical Zip Jacket

Is this an outerwear jacket? Or for indoor use? I do have a smaller size still coming, does this one look too big? Does this style work on me?

#2-Hinge Collarless Jacket in Red

I like the collarless jacket style, but I have too many at the moment. Here's the Hinge from the front and from the side

#3-Halogen Crop Collarless Jacket Black and White

This one has been previously posted but with so many to pick from I'm getting confused.

Halogen B/W Front and from the side To make matters worse I still have the gray version coming as well. (the previous post with the gray one was returned since the size was too small)

This one has also been posted previously, but again with so many to pick from now, I am getting confused.

#6-Gap Lightweight Wool Blazer

Another item Gap slipped into the mix. Does this jacket look too much like it should be part of a suit?

This jacket was my other purchase from the YLF DC meeting. It is very soft.

#8-Caslon Ruffled Faux Leather Jacket

The black is very light in color, heading near gray for this one.

#9-Benetton Jacket

I was actually looking for a different jacket (one I saw in DC) when I went to this store. The SA mentioned they had a new jacket they did not put out on the floor yet. Five minutes of waiting and a trip to the basement of Short Hills Mall, and here's the jacket. It is a LOT thicker compared to the one above. It's also a LOT darker, the darkest black I've ever seen for a jacket.

Wow, what a collection of great jackets...

#1 This looks way too big for you. I have this one as well and sized down for what is normal for me..wil be interested to see how the smaller size looks.

#4 This is cute, I like it on you! I prefer this over #5, the lapels look too big or wide on you
#6 #7 Love these on you, great fit, I think I like the gray over the navy, however.
#8 Not crazy about this one on you, again it looks too big, I like #9 much better on you..

#1 is indeed too big, and I'm wondering if even sized down that collar could be too overwhelming on you.

#2 this is my favorite of the collarless on you

#3 I like the hinge better

#4 &5 I don't care for either of these on you

#6 &7.. I like the style of these on you.. with a preference for the gap one.

#8 looks the same on you as it did on me.. and I returned mine It's just too bulky in the front.

#9 I like this one on you. Are you okay with the more casual vibe of the cuff and bottom band?

I am having the same problem but with fewer jackets. The Halogen looks to big #2Keep looks great #3Keep look good kinda of like #2 in style #4 & 5 Iprefer The one without ruffles.#6 & 7 Both look good but I am not crazy about navy looks like summer.#8 Just Ok #9 For some reason this one makes me think of the old member only jacket but I am old..You have some great ones to choose from. I am try to decide between the red Hinge and black Halogen myself I might just keep both. Good luck.

What a great job you have done in selecting jackets and photographing them. You look great in all of them except the first one which looks too big for you. I hope you can get a smaller version because that is a great jacklet.
I vote keep the Nic and Mo collarless. This one fits you well and looks comfortable. The color is really pretty and refreshing.
I like the Gap jacket and the Zara jacket on you. They are nice colors and bothe look to me like they fit you well.
I prefer the Benneton black leather bomber jacket to the Caslon.
I hope this helps make your choices easier, great collection.

I'm kind of in a rush but have to say that #2--the red hinge is spectacular! It's my fave of the lot! I like #1 but it looks too big for you. The only jackets that I'm not keen on are the last two--the Caslon ruffled and the Benetton. I think you could do better.

Hands down my favorite is the red one. It really stands out as suiting you well. The rest require deeper ponderment (i.e. time to think about it. They depend more on how you style it and what you are looking for.

halogen asymmetric==too big for you
halogen b/w collarless--it's perfect for you, stop perseverating. it's a keeper.
hinge red===also a keeper. tough decision to keep only 1 between hinge/halogen.

nick&mo both are too juvenile and not polished enough for you.

ambivalent about the gap. zara is too long and hits you at an awkward spot. if you really wanted this type of jacket, i would go with the gap, o/w i'd pass on both.

caslon is only ok. it doesn't look as rich as some of the other faux leather jackets i've seen posted.

benetton does not flatter and looks like too much of an 80s throwback rather than an updated interpretation.

how many did you want to keep?

1 - too big. can you size down? I like the asymmetrical zip.
2 - fab
3 - much prefer the red #2
4 - just okay
5 - yes! much better than #4
6 - you can do better
7 - might be okay? do you like the gold button?
8 - like it on you
9 - a totally different look, more of a bomber jacket. There might be room in your closet for #8 and #9

The polls are still open, here is the preliminary tally.

1-Halogen Asymmetrical Zip Jacket
Universal return due to size. A smaller size is on it's way that might save this one.

2-Hinge Collarless Jacket in Red
A keeper but can you keep Hinge and Halogen? Or is that repetitive?

3-Halogen Crop Collarless Jacket Black and White
Also a keeper but see above.

bj1111-I had to throw this one back into the mix because I'm not sure on keeping TWO collarless jackets. Are they different enough to keep both?

4-Nick and Mo Collarless
Even split, need a tie breaker vote.

San-This jacket is quite comfortable and in dead of winter, this shade of blue may be welcomed.

5-Nick and Mo With a Collar
Only ok, leaning towards return.

6-Gap Lightweight Wool Blazer
Even split, need a tie breaker vote.

7-Zara Jacket

Even split, need a tie breaker vote.

8-Caslon Ruffled Faux Leather Jacket
Only ok, leaning towards return. I'm liking #9 more.

9-Benetton Jacket
Only ok, leaning towards return. Not sure.

Queenie-The bottom band is ok with me, it keeps the wind from sneaking inside the jacket.

i'm also split. the color on the hinge is fab. rich red. but when i saw the jackets in person, i preferred the fabrication on the halogen.

if you didn't notice a difference in fabrication (or minded the difference) then keep the hinge red.

issues to consider:
1) would you like more color in your closet?
2) what hole would each one fill (not just as a chanel-esque jacket but as a red or black jacket.
3) i think you;re pretty young and the red jacket is more youthful.

My favs are the Halogen tweedy jacket and the blue Zara jacket.

I also like the first Nick and Mo jacket - that one looks like it will be a good cardi alternative on days when you want to be comfy.

Sorry, but the leather jackets are not spiffy enough.

Jackets on an average will be more restrictive than cardis so I would vote to prioritize comfort in your choices.

bj1111-Good questions to consider. Thinking out loud. I love color and always want color. I have holes for both since I don't have any "winter" jackets for jeans for work. I'm 32 so youthful is good. Sigh, guess I didn't really narrow them down yet did I?

elpgal-You are right, often jackets are tight for me. That's part of why selecting from these is so hard. These are all nice fit wise but the Nick and Mo and Zara are really soft, woven materials so they are as comfy as a sweatshirt.

I want you to get the grey leather jacket you tried on at the DC gathering. I also think it was Benetton.

I vote Halogen, Zara and the jacket that I have seen but the other forum members have not - other than the ladies accompanying you on the shopping trip

Lisa, you know I am biased towards the Hinge jacket. I agree the fabrication is different on Halogen and Hinge - Hinge is edgier and more casual and this is what attracted me to it over the Halogen - I have too many thing in the classic style and need an edgier jacket to make it more current. So it really depends on the role the jacket is going to play in your wardrobe: Hinge is for more casual vibe and Halogen is more classic (hmm, maybe you can keep both as they play such different roles?:-))

Angie-I would LOVE to get the jacket I tried in DC. Unfortunately my local store does not carry it anymore (apparently it was a spring jacket) and there is no online ordering.

If someone knows a way I can get that jacket I would be happy to pay them plus shipping.

I was also going to say I liked the DC jacket more on you, but you already checked my closest Benetton...

I still love the Zara jacket on you and am undecided on the tweed jackets. I think they all look great on you, so it's just a matter of which color you like best I guess.

Awesome finds Lisa. I would return 5, 7, and 9. I would wear 1 zipped - the style is great and it's an indoors jacket. You can keep both 2 and 3, they both look awesome on you. However, if you had to choose one, I'd vote keeping the red since it's different from the other colors you have.

Here's the final verdict.

1-Halogen Asymmetrical Zip Jacket
Return due to size. The smaller size came today (Halogen open and here it is Closedand I love it, planning to keep.

2-Hinge Collarless Jacket in Red
This was a tough call between Hinge and Halogen B/W jacket. I am keeping the Hinge. I know I will appreciate some color in the colder months when everyone is wearing black.

3-Halogen Crop Collarless Jacket Black and White
Return, see above. Also the gray finally came, but I look a bit washed out in this light shade.

4-Nick and Mo Collarless
Return, not the style direction I'm looking for.

5-Nick and Mo With a Collar
Return.

6-Gap Lightweight Wool Blazer
Return.

7-Zara Jacket
Keeper, it's soft, and good for use right now. May not go far into fall but that's ok. Plus it's already got memories since it was purchased at the DC YLF meet-up.

8-Caslon Ruffled Faux Leather Jacket
Return.

9-Benetton Jacket
Return, I'm very fair and this jacket is very, very dark.

Lisa, I am very late here ( haven't been on YLF most of the week), but I completely agree with your choices. Yay! So happy that you are keeping the Zara one.

Would you like me to go back to that Benetton and try to find that awesome grey leather one you tried on? I have a fairly busy week and probably won't be able to get there before Thursday evening, but it is worth a try.
