My summer numbers...

Totally laughing at myself here.

In my last WIW post (June Challenge, week 3) I mentioned a top that I quite like, yet I never seem to reach for. And was wondering why.

I think I have my answer. Bear with me...

Our summer is about 12 weeks (mid June to mid Sept) Less two weeks vacation, and three holidays means 47 days of work wear needed.

I have... that I LIKE (for work).
Short sleeved sweaters: 6
Shirts/blouses: 22
Work worthy tees: 9
TOTAL: 37.

And then there are the dresses!

And she wonders why she only wore the top once last year....

I can totally identify with that! I rarely wear dresses in the cold weather, but I have abut six of them that I wear throughout the summer, not to mention the summer tops! I love the summer, and the clothes! Maybe I need to work on more interesting things for the long cold winter...

Me too, Elizabeth. I'm trying to NOT shop until the Nordie's sale starts. It's a real challenge, even for a couple weeks!

"Work Worthy Tees." I definitely want to expand this category. I have two, but the majority of my tees look like tees.

Hahaha!!! Your numbers put mine to shame But in my defense our summer lasts from March to October so I still have plenty of time to wear everything.

And yet...I have a list to shop sales. I sincerely hope my eyes do not home on to anything SO-cute or just-too-pretty-to-resist while I pick the things on my list. Fingers Crossed!

But you can layer the T's under the shirts when the weather gets cooler.

I'm not buying anything till the NAS also !!

Elizabeth, you just need to take a beach vacation in mid-winter. That will be a great opportunity to give your lovely summer clothes some extra wearings!

Oh no Jeweled... this is just my WORK tops. Ones I'm likely to wear on weekends, evenings, and beach vacations is a whole different category. One with probably a worse outcome.... Not sure I want to go there.

Too funny! Closet maximalists unite!

I am telling myself that summer is longer here. In truth it did start in May this year. Yippee! (Let's hope that doesn't mean it ends in August.)

The thing is, how does this compare to winter numbers? Because our winters certainly make up for it in length.

Jeweled is totally on the right track. So you need to travel to warm places for WORK as well as fun in winter! Time to think up a conference.

I love the way you think Suz. A warm conference in the winter... that is good for about 30 wears... so about 60 days long, just so I can actually get all my tops dirty in a year :).

It's obvious, Elizabeth -- we simply have to bump up our winter wardrobes so we can also go through that season without doing laundry.

You and I have to get together IRL one of these days. It's not for want of trying that we haven't, yet. But that day will come .... hopefully somewhere warm!

Well, at least you figured out the cause/effect connection!

My summer is the same length as yours, and I, too, don't get many wears out of some of my summer items. I think I bought about half a dozen tee shirts during April and May--after telling myself I didn't need more summer tops...

And, as a tall woman, I love being able to buy and wear short-sleeve and sleeveless tops. Summer is my season when all my sleeves are long enough!

Maybe we should move to a climate with longer summers and shorter winters.
