I love Kate Middleton, and if I still had a body like hers, I would look to her for style inspiration. Unfortunately, I'm older and have a different body now. I actually like Helen Mirren.

Ha! Kate is one of my style icons also, but I never had a body like hers!
Not like Helen Mirrens either, but I would gladly take either ones wardrobe! Looking at all the pics, HM has pretty much the same color palette as me.

Helen Mirren is amazing. She exudes that lovely confidence that can come with age. Kate is lovely but not a style icon for me. My style icons are all just normal women i.e. not celebrities of any kind.

Both have great style, BC. I imagine both women would be delightful to meet, too.

Like Deb and Diane, I've never really had a celebrity style icon, taking inspiration from women I see all around me, including some of the wonderful Fabbers here.

I love to people-watch when I'm out and about, and usually spot a few people - male and female - who just have that something special about them. They may be quite simply dressed, but they manage to stand out from the crowd somehow. It's an elusive quality, for sure.

There are a lot of women who exude style, and as far as choosing an icon goes, it all comes down to who consistently dresses well and who has a style that's doable for me. Each of us chooses our clothing, accessories, makeup and hairstyles based not only on what we like but also based on what we can confidently and successfully pull off.

I do see many women on this forum who look fab, so don't think it's all about celebrities. I live in a rural area where, quite frankly, the women don't dress in a way that inspires me. You YLF'ers are great, and make an effort to dress well even if you're just going to run errands or walk the dog. I most certainly admire you, or I wouldn't hang out on this forum so much.

So whether we deliberately choose an icon or simply admire what we see others wearing, I think most of us draw inspiration from someone. I simply lack the creativity to come up with my own original style.
