My first midi dress!

From my recent H&M haul. This midi dress surprised me!

I love:
The slit-open back
Side slits
Gathered elastic waist (hidden under belt)
The drape
The length--it's so surprising! I thought I would hate midi lengths. But I adore it.

My only Complaint is it's unlined, so I have to wear a mini slip with it. The other thing is I have to wear a camisole with it or you can see my bra thru the open back.

I paired it with espadrille wedges and turquoise snakeskin belt. I also carried a raspberry hot pink clutch (not pictured).

Just so thrilled with this dress! It's a bit bohemian, summery, and fun.

I love the dress; it looks great on you! One option instead of a camisole would be a bra or top with an interesting strappy back - Urban Outfitters has several with interesting backs. But the cami looks great, too.

I love your black & turquoise combination. I echo "Echo" a fun bra is another option if you are comfortable. Or else even the peek of a turquoise slip looks wonderful

Gorgeous dress! I love back detailing in dresses but I always have a hard time finding the right bra to wear with it. I am looking out for bras like the one Echo posted in my neck of woods. Of course, the cami doesn't look bad either .... you could try a different colored cami for some fun the next time round

Cute! Yeah, it seems anything affordable nowadays is utterly transparent. But then that's the style. I think the slit in the back is FOR showing your bra to tell you the truth, but I really like the camisole idea, as it does both jobs of hiding the bra and preventing the transparency.

Echo, I think the visible bra look is really killer and love, love, love it! I just can’t bring myself to show my bra in public. This year is the first time I have worn a slightly sheer tee without a cami. Also, wore this outfit to church, so the showing of lingerie wouldn’t be acceptable. I wouldn’t mind, however, getting something strappy to show off for an evening out with my fella

T i might have to take the plunge (no pun intended, ha!) and get a fun bra. I really like your idea for a turquoise slip! I wonder if I could tack a bit of turquoise something at the top of the slits…Hmmm.

Neel back detailing is one of my favorite things in dresses. I think I might try a colored cami! That’s a really great idea!

Caro so true — everything is thin and transparent these days. I rather like it. But it does mean a lot of camis. Not comfy yet showing off my bra. But thinking it would be fun to find a silk print cami to wear underneath it!

Crutcher loveth you! I almost didn’t keep the dress…until I tried it on! My sister was like, “Holy cow!! That dress is perfect on you! You’re keeping it I hope!!” My Malt is making it. She hates the heat, and right now she needs a good haircut. But she’s surviving. Hope yours is getting along in the summer heat as well!

That is a great dress! I love that it accents your waist. You could also wear a black camisole and then the split back would barely be noticeable (or a nude one, and then the camisole would barely be noticeable--whichever the situation calls for). The shoes you've chosen look really good with it. Fab!

clearlyclaire that is a really great idea for the nude camisole! I actually love the slit, not just showing my bra. The shoes are one of my favorites - 4" espadrille wedge shooties with gold zippers! Yahoo!

Gracie I hope we see more of this type of dress too! It's a good style that I think a lot of different body shapes could wear.

A lace bandeau or racerback bralette would also be an option and more demure than the black strappy -- just one more look to add to your repetoire.

I love clearlyclaire's idea for nude camisole! and also Viva's suggestions! Dang! Now I regret putting back on the rack a lot of dresses and tops with back slits like your's... I thought they would be unwearable, but now with so many ideas I don't think so anymore!

T go buy them!! Or at least one or three I think slit backs are really glamourous, and a very nice change from the usual. I was really unsure about them myself. But I tried that dress on and I was hooked.
