My body type?...help please (pics included of course)

Hello ladies,
I've much admired your expertly advice to the fashionistas writing into this forum. Up to now I haven't had any good pics of myself to post in order to ask for advice on my body type. This morning however, hubby took pics of me specifically for the purpose of asking you all for your advice. I created a photobucket with 3 pics of me. So here I go...

What body type do you think I am?

I'm about 5ft 2inches if that helps at all. I normally wear a size XS on top and 0 on bottom (don't really have hips). My rough measurements are: 31, 24, 34.

Hoping I can start following the great advice in this thread more once I know what body type I am.

What a super figure you have! I would guess hourglass, too. I would imagine you look great in just about anything. Are you having any particular issues?

Tarzy-I've always been a little self-concious about my thighs and my arms (between my shoulder and elbow).
Because I'm pretty short (5'2" before heels) my legs are pretty short too. I love the skinny jeans with flats look, but I'm afraid they make me look stumpy!
As for my arms, I find that I just have difficulty toning them so I rarely wear shortsleeved tops. I either wear tanktops/spaghetti straps, or long sleeves - but never cap sleeves.

I'm only 5'4" with short legs too, so I completely relate. I always prefer some kind of heel, even if it's just 1", better if it's 2" to 2 1/2". It does get tiresome wearing a heel all the time, though. But I really can't imagine that you look stumpy!

I'm sure once you start posting pics of specific outfits you will get great feedback from the stylish women here. Sometimes we get an idea in our heads of what we think we look like. (I certainly struggle with my own "fashion demons.")

Tarzy - I do have a specific question that I was hoping you or the forum could help with...If I am an hourglass shape, then is it still ok for me to wear some of the voluminous tunics that are en vogue now? I'm envisaging a large voluminous tunic over a pair of skinny jeans...but as I mentioned, I'm nervous that it will make me stumpy and I'll look like a tent perched upon two stumps.

Any advice for a petite hourglass on how to wear the latest tunic trend?

I also think you are an hourglass and have an enviable figure. The cap sleeves may not work for you because you have a strong shoulder line. I'm 5'4" and have yet to figure out how to wear a voluminous top, even belted, so will be watching this thread with interest. I suspect proportion is key... just the right length for the top... and elbow length or shorter sleeves rather than full length, or narrow fitted sleeves full length sleeves.

Theresa - I'm still learning this myself, but I agree that proportion is the key. (I'm also busty, which adds to the challenge.)

A great person to ask about this would be Kelly - her screen name is Muequita. She's a true petite, like you, and has the proportion thing worked out really well. She posted a pic a while ago of a purple tunic over jeans that looked perfect. If she doesn't pop into this discussion maybe you can ask her in a separate post!

Welcome Theresa! I am also a short (5'0") hourglass. You have a cute figure and I think you can totally pull of the tunic with skinny jeans look. I wasn't sure about it either, but I tried it myself for the first time:

The top by itself is rather shapeless, but the belt really helps to give it a more structured look. I've found a belt higher up on the waist works best for me, but experiment and see what works best for you.
