My attempts at leggings

I went through my closet to see what I can wear with leggings and didn't find much. I tried to put a few options together, what do you think?

Macy's dress that I have posted before, with and without a jacket:

The famous Esprit dress - I think it may be too short for leggings and I may need to size up, not sure:

Denim skirt - unfortunately it's not pencil and I really don't know if it could work and what to wear on top so leggings don't look like an afterthought.

I like the first outfit best. I think that you can wear leggings with both the Esprit dress (which doesn't look too small), and the denim skirt, but try a longer length legging.

The first outfit is great but I like the Espirit Dress even more! It is not too smal the it fits you great.

I think the denin skirt looks great on you but it is a little too long for leggings.

I also love the Esprit tunic. I don't think it looks too short or small. With the first dress, I think I would prefer longer leggings.

o Macys dress outfits – both KILLER. Will also look good with longer leggings. You absolutely nailed it. Well done :0)

o Esprit dress – Adorable (*chuckle* and you know why).

o Denim skirt outfits – Wonderful! They all work and look great. Very sassy. Seattle - watch out!

Ooh, I really like the first two outfits with black Macy's dress. And I'm getting a kick out of the yellow necklace and scarf.

LOVE the Esprit tunic! I'm going to wear it vicariously through you (it doesn't fit my shape well).

I'm still getting used to the longer skirt + leggings look on everyone. Visually I'd prefer slightly longer leggings.

You did really well, Marianne!

I think those are some great leggings experiments! You can totally pull off the look. My favorite leggings looks are the Esprit dress (fits you really well, not too short!) and the Macy's dress (w/o jacket).

Thank you ladies! CS and Maya, by "longer", do you mean ankle length or mid-calf? I am not quite there yet with the whole length balance. I also wish I had a shift or even a sack dress, I think that would work best.
I think I like Esprit dress better with jeans. It feels very "me" I am still on the fence about the size because it is very fitted through the shoulders and chest, and it could potentially shrink... Laura, if you read this, have you washed yours yet? Lena, I am sorry it didn't work for you!
Angie, I am very honored to get the award :). Being unemployed leaves me more time for experimenting. I will probably try the short haircut later this year. I don't know if I'd trust my current hair person with it, so I might have to find someone else. The short cut idea occurred to me because my hair is all overgrown and I've been wearing it pulled back. Did the Esprit dress work for you?

I think ankle length leggings might be a bit too long, but you are tall so if anyone could wear them, it would be you. My preference would be mid-calf. I think it's a pretty universally flattering length. Proportions are the trickiest part when it comes to leggings.

Lovely go at leggings marianne!! I really like all the looks - esp with the black dress and the Esprit tunic. Lovely!! The only top I am not 100% keen on is the last blousy blue one. Can I just say again how much I love the Esprit top though!!!

Marianne: I love my hairdresser and I went super short this year and have loved it. I have strangers stop me and compliment me on my hair. When I was recently in India, some people asked me if I was a model!!! And I'm sure it wasn't because of the 20 lbs of weight I've gained

If you're willing to make the hike to the eastside, her name is Chelsea and she works at the Pro Club (425-885-5566).

Lastly, not only does the cut look great, it is super low maintainence. I never blow dry, just use a little gel and shampoo every 3 days.

You rock those leggings Marianne! My favorites are the pairings with the Esprit top and Macy's dress sans jacket. The others are great too. I'm with Tam with the last outfit with the blousy top being my least favorite. Love your scarves, beautiful colors!

Sihaya - It is so hard to find a hairdresser in India who is willing to work with what you and determine what your needs are, what suits you best. Its always about the latest style. It annoys me no end when some of them try to impose what their idea of the best hairstyle is, regardless of how it would look on and work for you. A hairstylist at one of the upscale salons ruined DH's hair the day before our wedding. Of course boo at DH for doing it last minute, but still. He just went back to his childhood barber and got a close crew cut

Marianne, I really like the leggings with the dresses, especially with the Esprit dress which looks absolutely fabulous on you! I also think that you could go a little longer with the leggings - maybe mid-calf?

- Outfit with the Macy dress (I LOVE that dress): stunning. It's just perfect Marianne. The bright yellow necklace is such a great touch too.
- With the jacket and the scarf: I want to borrow this whole outfit, but only if I look as fantastic in it as you do!

- Esprit dress (you know I love this one;-): I think this is the perfect size for you. Not too short for leggings at all, not with your gorgeous gams.
(are you wearing a grey watch in the pictures? green? it's a bit hard to see, looks great too)

- I like all four outfits with the denim skirt (another great find), my favourites are the first one (the contrast between that beautiful, dressier white button-down and the casual leggings is super) and the last one.

How do you feel in the leggings now Marianne? You wear them incredibly well. And because you're tall, different lengths will work equally well for you, I think.
