More K/R - toppers for white jeans - ETA chevron pics

(7 and 8 are new photos of the chevron top with different pants. I made a point of tugging it down in the back)

Sorry to be a forum hog. Husband is gone for the day so I have some time to post.

Again, I would appreciate your honest comments and criticisms of these pieces - it's the best way to learn!

Picked up some tops and sweaters at TJ Maxx and find myself hemming and hawing. If they look familiar, the sweaters have already made an appearance in a prior skirt thread.

The floral sweater in 1 would be my homage to the current floral jacket theme. It would also work with jeans and my magenta Halogen pencil skirt.

I picked up the sweater in 2 just because I love the colors. Is one better than the other on me? I really do not need two.

The sleeveless polka dot top in 3 and 4 is more of a crepe in front and knit in back. These pants do have a flap pocket preventing the shirt from lying flat. Well, those and my bum : ) It is a little big around the armholes. I absolutely loved it in the store but am now having second thoughts.

The chevron blouse in 5 and 6 just says happy to me, but I'm worried the pattern overwhelms me. Then again, maybe I am still in the more muted winter colors mode. What do you think? If I keep it I hope the collar will soften after washing, it is presently very upright.

I like both sweaters and the chevron top ... Although it seems to be doing something wonky in the back view. Or is that just because of your pose?

I vote return on the dotted top. The back is nowhere near as fab as the front.

Anne, maybe the chevron isn't big enough. Though the fabric is still stiff, so maybe that has something to do with the wonkiness.

My favorites are #2 and #5, although I'm also wondering about the back of #5. I agree with Anne about the dotty top.

I think #2 and #5 look great. The others I think I'd pass on. Looks like you are having fun with some color for spring.

2 and 5 are keepers and look wonderful on you and with your white jeans.
#1 has a frump factor of 3 (on a scale of 1 - 5), and 3 is cute, could work with a topper, but on its own I feel like it doesn't give a balanced silhouette.

I like the sweater in #2 also, #1 seems muted for you. Definitely loving the chevron shirt as long as the back gets sorted out.

I love polka dots but I'm not feeling the shirt like everyone else is saying. Gosh that is hard for me to admit because I love them so.

It could be that it's not large enough, but the chevron seems to fit you from the front. Hmm. Is it possible to size up and try that, too? I know it can be hit or miss to find duplicates of things at TJ Maxx, but it might be worth trying.

I wonder about sizing up in that chevron top, too. It's really crisp and sharp, but the back view is confusing. It could just be the pockets of your jeans sticking to the fabric, I guess.

I don't know if TJMaxx does this, but our Winners will sometimes call their other stores to see if an item is available in the required size.

I love the colours of both sweaters, but I have to confess that having worn this type of cardi pretty much to the exclusion of any other topper for years, I have a slightly poisoned eye for it, even when worn as a top. So I feel as if I am not the best judge. I sort of find myself weirdly attracted to the floral one but I would also worry that it would read "old lady." I don't think #2 reads that way, but I feel a little seasick when I look at it. That is CLEARLY my own problem, however, and since you loved the colours (and they flatter you) maybe that's the keeper?

I like the dotted top a lot from the front but feel less thrilled with the back view.

And I admire your persistence on this. I HATE shopping for summer tops. I have yet to find many that I like or that work particularly well. It is an ongoing saga for me.

I love 2 on you - these colours are some of my favourites. I also like 1 but if you only want one cardigan then my vote is 2. I think the chevron might work - is the fabric one that will relax after washing?

I have a weakness for the colors in 2, so of course I love that one the best out of the two sweaters!

I like both sweaters and the chevron top. If you only wanted one sweater, I would take #1 because it sounds like you already have some options with it. Good for you for getting started on the summer tops!

I like the second sweater best, and I am a fan of the chevron top. Is it just hiking up a little in the back? I have a booty, so, no matter the size, this can happen to me, too. The more "slippery" the fabric, the better. BTW --- I've been know to use fabric softener to soften the drape of stiffer fabrics!

These are all so bright and pretty and eye-catching! I have a very difficult time finding summer tops because they have to meet so many criteria. Do these meet all of yours? Would you tuck any of them in? That can change the vibe and the proportions of any that you think might not work. I like the second sweater's colors very much and all of the navy and white. The chevron top looks like it's working in the last two pictures.

Alicat, Thanks! I've added a new backview of 5 which is better.

Texstyle, yes I do love color, but then I see some of the musted combinations and love them too. Just haven't gone in that direction - I actually think it would be even harder for me.

Nicole - Thanks for the frump factor comment. I hadn't considered frump so much as it being too light with the white background.

Kalli - I have the same concerns about #1 too. Angie has seemed to prefer darker colors on me rather than creams in some of my sweater posts

Anne and Suz - I bought the chevron top a good couple of weeks ago so odds of there still being a larger are probably pretty slim. And "weirdly attracted" - ha! Oh, and Suz, I haven't EVEN started on summer tees.

Glory - the chevron is 100% cotton so I think it ought to relax some.

Mander - green has really grown on me the last few years. Now I love it and have quite a lot in my home.

Krista - Thank you! Sweater 1 makes the most sense wardrobe wise, but I really do like 2 better. Decisions, decisions. And I am soooo bad at making up my mind.

Beth Ann - I had never really seen a photo of myself from the back, so the expanse of my booty has been a bit of a rude awakening while taking all of the pictures. Thanks for the fabric softener tip!

Good points, Claire. The sweaters I would not tuck and I think the polka dot will go back. Chevron I believe I would tuck in jeans or maybe with my pencil skirts. Thanks!

#1, #2 and #5 are great! I especially love the chevron shirt. The fit at the back is fine - look at pic #7, where it's not pulling at all.

I love the chevron patterned top and think it looks so pretty with the white pants. The cardigan in #2 has such beautiful colors. I'm always very careful with pattern placement when it comes to florals, but I don't see an issue here.

I like the chevron top the best and would return the polka dot top based on the back view. I'm kind of on the fence about the floral sweaters. I like the first one better than the second because it has a more open pattern.

Replying without reading so as not to have my thoughts swayed. I would pass on all but#2. I think it is fun and playful with beautiful colors. Not feeling #1 and I feel like #3 and the chevron top are not figure flattering enough and you deserve better.
