More Denim Shirt Inspiration - YouLookFab Forum

Chewy inspired me to hit the mall last night and pick up a denim shirt at BR. The BR one is pretty fitted - maybe I should have sized up for something looser. Hmmmm.

Meanwhile, I've been surfing for some more inspiration - posting them here so as not to steal Chewy's thread -

Question: you think it would work to wear ponte knit pants, denim shirt, and a black velvet blazer? Or black leather jacket? Heck, what about a sequined jacket? Hmm...

I like the idea of a denim shirt with ponte knit pants and black velvet blazer or leather or sequined jacket, especially for a smart casual holiday gathering. Please post a photo if you do it. I'm struggling with making this look age appropriate and your idea just might work (if I starch and press the shirt).

Fantastic, Shiny! Personally, I think it's all about adding black and white to the mix. Denim shirts seem to look best that way to my eye :0)

I'm wearing it open over a graphic tee with pearls and ponte knit pants - will take pics when DD gets home. I think it's a good "kicking around at home - company may drop in" look. I also tried it with the velvet jacket over, and liked that even better!

I want to experiment with skirts and LBDs next... I think I like the contrast of casual shirt with something dressy the best so far... for me, at least.

Shiny, thanks for posting these links. I have been having a hard time wrapping my mind around how to reinterpret the denim/chambray shirt since it was a staple of my early-mid 90's wardrobe (mostly paired with black leggings as pants on its own or layered with chunky sweaters & turtlenecks or over a white v-neck hanes tee+super short black skirt+tights+stacked oxfords). I really need to dig up those pics, scan them in and post them! I seriously owned at least 4 of these of varying shades. I still have one fitted RL light chambray remaining in my closet which I hope to be able to use somehow. I just don't want to do the same look I've already done. I love the idea of chambray with white - maybe with white skinnes for the spring?
