Mismatched shoes: would this make you nuts?

...or is it just me?

I've finally found a pair of leopard flats I like. They're nearly sold out everywhere and I had to stalk this size on the Nordstrom site until they popped up again.

But. The pattern doesn't exactly match. Realizing they don't need to be perfectly matched, I can't decide if the mismatch is OK and it's just me being needlessly neurotic, or if they really look off. If they were still in stock, I'd exchange them for a different pair. But they're not. So it's either deal with the mismatch or it's off to the drawing board again.

So...nuts (they're fine) or not (yeaaaah the pattern is a problem)?

Much better unmatched! If they matched they would look very machine-fabricated fake. The spots are about the same size also, so the difference between the two shoes does not jump out at me, I would never have noticed that the patterns were different.

The pattern difference doesn't bother me at all--I love the shoes and they look great on you. BUT--if you are questioning pattern difference, you probably won't be happy with them.

They would probably make me nuts if I wore them, but I don't think that I'd notice the mismatch if someone else was wearing them. I can be a little neurotic, so keep that in mind! If you think that they'd bother you, I'd return.

I agree with Ginkgo. Much better unmatched. Now if the colors didn't match that would be another story.

It would not bother most people. It would generally bother me that the direction of the print is different on each shoe but the spots are similarly sized so that part is OK.
What you are asking is very individual and really depends on how you feel.
I had purchased the same style of Ivanka flats, a HEWI for me, too. I wore them only at home for a bit and then I noticed that the hair on the tips of the shoes peeled off without even having worn them outside. That did it for me and I returned them, the SA at Nordstrom's took them back without any problem. Only at Nordstrom's they treat you so well, that's why they get most of my fashion budget.
I hope you have better luck with your shoes. They are very pretty.

I can't see anything 'off'. I don't think I've seen leopard shoes that match exactly! This looks more 'natural' to me

So glad to hear what you all think. The direction of the print doesn't bug me as much as the dark spots that are running together on the left shoe.

It's one of those things that once I get over it I'll probably not think about it again. But I might. LOL

Joyce, thanks so much for your input on the quality of the calf hair. I'm pretty easy on my shoes but if you had issues before you even left the house...hmm.

I am another vote for the mismatch being better than if they were matched.

Now if there was a noticeable pattern repeat that was placed on different places on the shoe that would give me pause. Actually, it has given me pause on two pairs of shoes that I own. But once I've worn them for a while I don't notice it anymore as the overall look is harmonious.

Honestly, I wouldn't call this a mismatch and would never notice. But if you think this may continue to bother you, have you tried having a sales associate or calling customer service and having them do a store search for the shoes so you can order another pair? Sometimes stores have an item that has sold out online. It may be that you like best a left side from one pair and a right side from another pair.

It would probably drive me nuts but I like things to be symmetrical. One reason I don't wear ruffles is that it drives me crazy when they don't lay perfectly.

I didn't notice even after you mentioned it. I'm a perfectionist, too, but I don't think anyone will notice or care.

Perfectly normal for leopard print anything to look like that, even with the bunched up spots. It makes the product more realistic looking. If they looked exactly the same no one would buy them because they would look to machine made fake.

I'm sensitive to mismatched animal patterns, but only when they look very mismatched versus just having natural variety. When I looked at the thumbnail, I thought, "no go." But when I looked at them full size (like a person in real life would!), they look great. Definitely a keeper.

The pattern is sufficiently different to make me crazy, but I suspect that's because I have obsessive/compulsive tendencies. Listen to the women who are more sane than I am.

They look great to me! If you look at one at a time and compare, you obviously see the difference, but as a pair, they look very natural. I vote keep!

I had to get mine out and check. Yep, mine are mismatched too. I just never noticed before. I think if they matched perfectly they would look fake. And most people probably wouldn't notice unless you called their attention to it. They look fine to me. But now I want a more pointed pair like yours! Oh well, add them to the list.

Weirdly, it would bother me - surprising, I know, but I like my imperfections perfect. It's not the mismatch, it's that one bigger spot. But I feel like I might be slightly insane, so go with your gut feeling.
