More photos: Milly citron miniskirt - yay or nay?

ETA: Photos! The weird bumps are from my skinnies which I didn't want to photograph pulled down and was too lazy to take off. All comments, drunken or not, are welcome!

This is at my consignment store for a very reasonable price. It is in like new condition, citron wool and it is not too mini on stubby me. I would want to get rid of the gold buttons which are dangly and non-functional. Cold weather citron is hard to find.

So, is it current? Would getting rid of the buttons ruin the point. Could I wear it with grey, navy, or black tights and boots?

It has a vintage vibe to me:). Yes I think you could wear it as you suggest. What length is it on you? Too short and I think it could read a little "girly". I certainly like the idea of it and love the colour for you.

I know you love this color but I think it's better closer to your face. I personally find it very difficult to wear light/bright skirts in winter even with neutrals, so I'm having an issue picturing it without seeing a sort of cute schoolgirl thing in my head.

IK I'm just the opposite - I prefer my brights on my bottom half for balance and since so many of my winter tops are black and grey.

Maybe I should post a pic with me in it.

I have a mental block with brights on the bottom unless they're metallics. Would you wear this with citron tights, or...?

Baby cabling reads pretty preppy, like twinsets & pearls not subversive school boy. I'd prefer it if it was a straight up tweedy fabrication

Yes, I hope you post a pic wearing it. It's hard to visualize otherwise. Since you have tough boots and dark tops I think it won't be too girly.

In many cases, I would say this piece looks too vintage to be current. However, after seeing your WIW posts for a while, I have absolutely no doubt that the way YOU would style this skirt would be current. I am not sure you have a dated/frumpy bone in your body. Indeed, I would LOVE to see what you could do with this skirt.

Well... Speaking as one who is into a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon... I think it looks really great. It is very balancing to your body type (not that I think you really need the balancing, as I've always envied your type, being the opposite of mine and all). I think the style could read girly, but your styling of it, both here and in other incarnations I can imagine, are decidedly not girly. I think that some of my favorite RATE looks are ones that take something soft and make it rough. I also find this color tougher than if it were in baby pink or something similar. Maybe that's just me, though (or the wine?).

I think if you remove the gold buttons and wear it with a fairly plain dark top (as in the pics) you will ward off the girly vibes.
Is the cost such that you can afford to experiment with it for a month or 2? It would sure breath some light and life into our long dark winters. It looks fun to me. Sure it would look even better if it was a plain tweed but this is great too!

I love it on you. I think the fabric look Chanel-esque. Which I think is more timeless than retro. You look happy in it too. Go for it!

I think this skirt looks awesome on you. It really complements your hair and skintone and would look great paired with heather grays, navy and white. It adds a a lot of femininity (i'd keep the gold buttons--so Milly!) and proportionally, is perfect on you.

If it's not pricey and you want to experiment, I would go for it. It looks great on you and would be a lot of fun. (Wine worn off by now, FWIW.)

It was not pricey, especially for a Milly item and with credit. Worth playing around with boots and tights. You all are hilarious! I'm still at work!

First reaction: OMG CUTE! I actually don't mind the texture/pattern. Some pretty fun styling can be done here. Whatever top and boots you're wearing in the photo actually works!

As a fellow IT, I totally get why you would wear colour at the bottom. It is a balancing act! Though despite bring IT and apple to boot, I still wear colour above because it lights up the face. I do have a pair of red skinnies and a red skirt so... I TOTALLY GET IT!

Thanks, MKK! After reading your post on liking minis I felt better about this -the shape and color are so appealing to me. I even kind of like it over these skinnies! Could be a kind of warrior mini-skirt look.

I like it a lot in the pics, although I do see what Anna's saying about the cable knit. It looks like it fits you great and sounds like it's cheap enough that it's worth experimenting with.

I like it on you! I was worried seeing it on the hanger that it would be too short and cheerleader-y but I think it's actually a good length on you, and not cheerleader-y at all.

I work Saturdays-- love the citron and mini-ness the combined fabrication, pattern/texture and pleats reminds me of Dionne or Cher from Clueless. No liquor on board here.

Still at work?!? Although that was 53 minutes ago, that would still have made it after 10 pm. Wait... Pacific time would mean it was after 8 pm, and that is STILL too late! That is totally wrong; I boycott workplaces that have employees working past 8 pm on a Friday! Have a glass of wine - you deserve it.
