Me, my uber-slouchy BF jeans, and my boy

DS and I ran a 5.5K today! He kicked my butt - he ran it in 30 minutes and it's a grueling trail run full of mud and roots. I was so proud of him! Here we are after changing - I'm in my baggiest BF jeans and new Zella jacket (traded black for green). I could pull these down without unzipping - very urban hiphop-y feeling for out here in the sticks!

Thanks, ladies! He is quite proud of himself, especially since he took 7 minutes off his time from last year.

This Zella jacket got a lot of compliments at the run! It was the perfect lightweight layer and I can see getting a lot of use out of it.

What an amazing picture! Your son is kicking butt--7 minutes is a lot of time to shave off! I love these jeans on you, and that fitted green jacket is fab. I'm not surprised you got some compliments! It's such a nice change from black, and the color and fit look wonderful on you.

Honestly, I can't really focus on the outfit. I'm too overcome by emotion thinking about how great it must be to have a kid accomplish such a thing. I should probably slow down on the wine.

Alecia, you are too funny but right as well. He was ahead of me the whole time (okay, I have a UTI which made me have to stop every 200 yards, but still.... hope that's not TMI!) - I kept thinking he might stop for me but praying he would just go for it and leave me in the dust. And he did! At the finish line he told me he wanted to wait for me, but knew I would have wanted him to do his best.

You really can't ask for more than that from an 8 year old.

I've been seeing a lot of that Zella jacket. I must check it out in person. That green is fantastic and you are queen BF jeans. That is a really nice casual look.
