Looking for cropped pants for pears

Hi ladies! Its almost summer here, and denim is quickly losing its appeal.
I'm trying to find some cropped pants (non bermudas, non denim) that will work on curvier shapes.
Any suggestions?

I like a cotton/silk mix in fabrics for the summer.
Silk is funny because it is warm in the winter for long johns, and cool in the summer for tops and pants, or dresses.
I cannot swear that it is cool in the summer but I was told it is.

Hmmm. Neither. They were black and have hitch up tabs at the side. I can't find the item online. Have a look see though.

Try BR too. And J Crew. I have every confidence you'll get the look right with heels.

I might be wrong, Sarah. But I think you need a higher rise than the pants you've linked to. Try Urban Outfitters too.

I like the INC capris that Angie is referring to -- doesn't Shiny have them? -- because the ruching actually shortens the pants. On the DKNY capris, it looks like they just have a tie at the bottom, right?

Yes Laura, the DKNYs only have ties. I'd prefer ruching, which is why I linked to those Limited ones. I'm hoping I could let them out a bit...
Well I'll just say this, when I finally find the right ones I'm planning on duplicating in other colors. :oX

I hear ya on the hot weather, and the quest for a jeans alternative.*wipes brow*

I don't care for the DKNYs, or the other crop styles with drawstring hems, major pockets and such...personal preference.

I really like these because they're a more streamlined, sophisticated, cool and comfortable version of the look, and the tapered leg lends itself to the "fold and scrunch trick" that Angie recommended in her blog post. Please do try them on, and LMKWYT.

Thanks Leslie (right?). I do have a plan to try those JCrew ones on for sure. I'll probably have to go up a size and take the waist in, but that's nothing new.
And yes you live near my real dad and half siblings and I used to spend summers in Phx with them. I think you're warmer than we are now, but we have that dreaded humidity to contend with.
My sister is coming for a week in June, and we plan on doing stuff all over central TX and I just want an option other than pulling out my trusty 5.5" shorts.

Okay ladies. I scoured Express, The Limited, Macys, and F21 yesterday. I'll do a second round today but I got so wiped out shopping at an outdoor mall in the heat of the day.
The ONLY ones I walked away with are the Limited ones that I posted here the other day.
The Express ones went down to almost my ankles (although, they have a tie on the bottom that I could have scrunched them up with, but I felt like I looked like Aladdin), Macys had NO black ones, and the other styles were too long and couldn't be shortened.
So don't hate on me, but here are pics of the Limited ones. I'm still SO lost as to what I'm trying to find, so bear with me.

What I like about these pants is that the ruching will allow me to find the perfect sweet spot. They fit well through the thigh (yes I had to size up).
The only thing I don't love are all the strings and the waist belt, but I can fix those. I'll just crop the hem ties once I find the perfect length.
What are your thoughts?
I just tried them on with the cami and sandals I'm wearing today, so that's not the outfit I have in mind.

Oh, in the second photo it looks like you can shorten them enough, and I see what you mean about strings, strings and more strings. But as you said, you can fix that. I can't really see the waist belt -- is it a fabric self belt or tie or some sort?

What do you think of the rise?

It's hard to tell what's going on with these, due to the dark color. But from what I can see, they look cute.

You know that I got no love for the drawstring ties, but if they help you get to the right length...

Thanks for your comments! I do like the ruching a lot, and the ties can be hidden I think. So I'm not factoring those in at all.
The belt is a fabric tie belt that just adds bulk where I don't want it. I also grabbed these in an olive green so I can take more pictures later. The rise feels great to me, but I'm curious what Angie has to say about it.
Leslie, I do hope to get to JCrew today, but we'll see. I also have a house to clean, and a few miles to run...not to mention making dinner and all the other glorious house wifey things one must do.

It's a bit hard to see on my screen, but they look as if they fit you very well, and I love the fact that you can adjust the spot where they hit you on the leg.
Is the belt that came with them removable Sarah?

THANK YOU Angie, I can sleep better tonight knowing my immediate search is over. I still plan on trying a few more (JCrew mainly), but at least I can survive for awhile.
The belt is a self tie, and I can easily remove it. The rise feels good, personally. It looks okay, yes?
More and more, I'm liking lower rises (not hoochy low, though). I think as my stomach flattens out they fit much better.

The rise looks great to me - it's more a matter of what's comfortable to you. You could NEVER look hoochie! The mere thought makes me laugh.

You've inspired me to want to try this pair on at the Limited. I have a pair from NY & Co in olive I bought this past weekend and got for 50 % off otherwise I probably would not have bought them but they are comfortable. I like all the colors at Limited except the white bc it looks awfully transparent to me!

I'm curious about the j.crew pair as well...

I love the black for crops, but I may try the olives at JCrew. The Limited also has them in olive...so just as long as I end up with one of each color.

Well, I'm all hip and thigh, so that could be why. The waist is loose, but the hips were too snug in the 6s, so I got the 8s.
