Longevity of OTK boots

I just got a pair of OTK boots, and now I find myself wondering about their longevity. They seem to be quite the rage now, at least judging from online shopping. I haven't seen many people wearing them, although I saw someone in the mall last week (during really hot summer weather...she was clearly on Team Wear!). What do you all think? How long will these puppies be on trend?

They were very trendy a few years ago, so I see this as a recent resurgence, rather than a new trend. Which is good - it means they entered the category of "normal things to wear" instead of being a flash in the pan. I have no idea how long they'll be at the top of the trends now, but I think they'll age gracefully. (I wouldn't have predicted that when I started seeing them a few years ago - it was one of my poison eye looks back then, but our eyes adapt.)

I think the flattering long line that OTK boots provide will contribute to their longevity. When something is flattering or comfortable or both, my sense is that it will last longer than if it is f'ugly and/or uncomfortable.
