Logos on butts - pro or con?

I remember back in the late 70s when having embellished butt pockets was the very pinnacle of fashion. Maybe that's why I'm starting to resent the big swaths of stitchery some jeans brands are using these days. Or maybe it's because when they use contrast stitching, it naturally focuses attention onto my behind - which oh yeah, is being used as a billboard for their logo.

I love my jeans - Seven for All Mankind dark wash high waists, you have made me a believer! - but am iffy on that logo. Anyone else?

CON, con, con. But then, I don't really care for logos on my clothing or accessories generally. Maybe its genetic, my son received some very nice button-downs by RL from a cousin and refuses to wear them "because I don't want that horse there"...

Agreed on the butt-detail being an issue too. My butt gets enough attention on its own without being bejewelled, bedazzled or otherwise spotlighted.

Interested in hearing what others think. Clearly there is a market for the logos or they wouldn't still be out there?..

I am CON. But I'm con all logos, all the time, unless they are so subtle that only a crazy fashionista would even know they were a logo, or can be artfully (yet easily) hidden.

I don't know - Levi's had always had the arcuate stitching, so it could be argued jeans have always had logo'd pockets. I have some Miss Me jeans that are admittedly pretty blingy on the pockets with fleur de lis and I like them, but there are plenty of other designs of theirs I do not like. I'll take this one on a case by case basis.
At first, I thought you meant the Juicy and Pink logos on sweats - yikes!

I am con logo, if for no other reason than why would I pay a company to advertise their product for them?

Logos on butts... at first I thought you meant those companies that write their name across the rear of sweatpants and stuff! lol I don't own any premium jeans, so not sure about this stitching you mention.

However, as someone who has a very flat butt, I do find that detailed stitching on jean pockets actually help enhance my rear.

Can't stand those embellished pocket jeans especially ones with the rhinestones and the thick white thread. Looks so tacky to me. I don't think the standard 7s qualify in this category though.

urghhh....i've hated any and all logos since i first spotted them (in, what, 1972?). as you say, companies can pay ME if they want me to advertise. re:jeans, this over-embellishment (including logos) was part of the impetus in my getting down to it and finally sewing up my own. There is a lot of really helpful info out there on the internet which gave me the confidence to tackle this project, and i'm very happy i did! Clean jeans.

a post i did on my website regarding logos garnered the liveliest discussion yet. One woman said she would spend *hours* unpicking logos on clothing, it bothered her that much. Strong feelings! steph

I don't mind as long as the logo is stitched in the same color as the denim, so it's more of a texture. I avoid jeans with brightly colored or "blingy" logos on the back pockets, just because that's not "me." I prefer a more polished look.

I take logos on a case by case basis. As for attention getting detail on the back pockets.... I look for something subtle. My bum is ok, but it is not a 20-year old bum anymore. I'd prefer it to quietly blend in.

I'm a con on this one for adult women. Maybe teenagers can get away with it, though.

I used to really like them, but now I don't, unless they are very small. I don't mind Hudson's logo, nor their signature triangle flap pockets. The tiny Levi's tag doesn't bother me, either.

I really especially like it when the rear of my coeds hot pink sweatpants says "LOVE PINK" or "JUICY!!" or some other nasty thing in bedazzled sparkles!!

logos etc. on butts reminds me of this one time, at drill team camp (yes, they exist) where this one team had each members' names air brushed on the rear end of their shorts, and there was a girl whose name was Melanie, but according to her shorts, once they had started to creep up after a few hours or dancing, her name was "Meanie."

Like Rae I used to like the back pocket logos and flaps. Don't know why, but after a while they just started to grate on me. Every so often I'll get on a rant about them, and my boyfriend has to remind me that no one can see them on me because I always wear a dress with my jeans and it covers the logo or pocket flaps nicely. So a practical side to my signature look.

I used to be really con logos on clothes. Now I am a more of a moderate. When it comes to jeans, I realized that many of them do not have actual logos but have signature pocket stitching, so many people will know what they are any way. And even if a garment has no logo/discernible markings, and someone asks me about it, I am happy to tell them the brand and where I purchased it. When I do that, I am voluntarily marketing their product. Some people are going to recognize these things and some aren't. If I love it, I'm wearing it, logo or no.
