It's that time of year- what are you planning on wearing to your holiday events?
I know that we have the annual work party for my husband (which they have combined with the service award dinner this year- boo!), and maybe a cocktail party to go to. I want to wear my new Cynthia Rowley pleated midi skirt, but I'm not sure what I will wear with it. Probably similar to this, but with lots of pearls and my vintage tapestry purse.

Oh ... I LOVE the skirt! For the holiday party I'd wear the skirt with maybe a nice button-down blouse with the collar "popped" and with a ton of jewelry and nice heels. I'd leave off the jean jacket for the party, but it looks really cool for a high-low mash up causal yet polished day. Such a great skirt!!

I'm thinking of this skirt for our holiday parties with a white shirt, platform pumps and diamonds.

It would look really nice with cream, too. Don't you have a lacy cream top of some kind? Or a black or navy one?

We don't get invited to many holiday parties these days because both of us are now working mostly from home and our friends don't tend to throw that sort of party. (Or any sort of party...dull bunch, or what?) Our events tend to revolve around the kids, who are wildly varying ages. But I still like to find ways to get a bit dressed up during the season. I haven't really figured out what this year's outfit might be; thanks for getting the wheels turning.

Interesting question. I can't think of anything in my closet right now that I want to wear to a holiday party. I should probably keep my eye out for an interesting skirt or top in the next few weeks. I like to be prepared for events instead of shopping the day before I need the clothes. I love your skirt and think it looks fun for a party!

Chewy, I LOVE this skirt on you! I think it will look awesome with pearls and some sort of fitted top and/or cropped cardigan (maybe something really soft and angora-y?)

You always have the best party outfits...I love your burgundy dress with the black lace tights, too.

I do not have a party to go to...we may have our own cocktail party at our place. We've done it a couple times before and it's been fun (our place is small, so it can be crowded...but people tend to come and go). I figure that if no one else has a party at least we can dress up for our own. (-:

The only holiday party that is set in stone is the church leadership party that is held in the church fellowship hall. There is always a lovely assortment of holiday sweaters I'm thinking I will probably wear my not-exactly-new-but-not-yet-worn black sheath dress, red and black Isola pumps and pearls. Pretty basic, but I'll be way over dressed even at that

I hope we get to see all these gorgeous sounding holiday outfits:) Khris that skirt looks lovely on you. I think the way you have described for the party sounds perfect. I think it will really lend an edge to the overall look... and with pearls how can you go wrong.

I have at least 4 functions leading up to Christmas (some are work) and I have no idea what i will be wearing... guess I better start thinking about it

Queen Mum, I have a similar event, a holiday Rotary dinner. I am easily 20+ years younger than everyone else who usually wear their 'christmas' sweater and pin. The men are lucky, just a suit

Lovely outfit. I'd like to wear a skirt and nice blouse to holiday events this year. Or a dress with sleeves. But both options will depend on if I can wear proper footwear. I'm still wearing sneakers right now. If I am in sneakers for the holidays I'll stick with trousers. The one item I do not want to wear for holidays this year, is jeans. I want to start dressing up a tad more for holidays.

khris, my fave so far. i love that skirt on you. you were it so well!!!

i'll be wearing years-old navy blue pants silk beaded pants (i call them my cher pants) worn with a navy or white tank and a blue silk tuxedo jacket or with my ruffled white shirt from anne fontaine. i better wear these pants since i fit into them only every 2 years!!

i also have an emerald beaded/sequined tank work with skinny black pants and jean jacket for cocktail parties as a back-up. the tank hides party-belly. hello cocktail weiners.

I love the idea of that skirt with your tapestry purse.

I currently don't have any holiday events on the calendar. I think it will depend on whether or not I am employed before Christmas time.

Of course, I always have a few family holiday events, but they are more smart casual.

Khris, that is a great skirt! How about a top with some sequins on it under a cropped cardi or jacket?
I've already had one holiday event and wore the olive/bronze sheath dress with a grey/bronzish silk tunic jacket and metallic pumps (wish I'd worn the red ones).
I've posted the sheath before and will try to find the photo. It is silky with large abstract red orange flowers scattered and a beaded belt.
For a more casual affair I plan to wear a long red cowl neck sweater with scattered sequins, skinny dark wash blue jeans and red patent pumps.

Great thread, Chewy. I love your skirt, and your party ensemble sounds perfect. I want to wear Angie's metallic midi, that sounds amazing - but I'll settle for pictures ;). I just bought a black sheath dress with 3/4 sleeves that I might be able to spice up with a pretty belt, and I also have a red cashmere sweater that I could wear with my black pencil skirt - although I really love the idea of shimmer or sparkle, so I'll keep my eyes peeled for something festive in that vein.

Khris, you know that is one of my favorite outfits you've posted : ). But I am HOPELESS when it comes to putting together holiday outfits. In fact, I'm totally freaking out just thinking about putting together my family get-together outfits! But I can't wait to see yours. Perhaps I'll get some inspiration.

I don't have any fancy holiday parties to go to since our work party is during the work day. I was just contemplating what to wear for our big Thanksgiving dinner (we usually host a bunch of friends since there is no extended family nearby). I thought that a rust-colored silk blouse with a skirt would be nice for that gathering but then realized that it would perfectly match my tablecloth.

Bryan's company went from formal 'renting the penthouse and a block of rooms at the Omni' to silly sweater contests and Elf quote alongs.
I'm not sure what they are doing yet this year, or if spouses are even invited (we weren't last year, pff!).
If I am invited and it's casual, I'll wear my cobalt skinnies and my new sparkle sweater.
