Some closet orphans...

1. Silk geometric pattern wrap blouse. Fits great, I love the colors, I just haven't worn it since my last part-time design job four years ago. Keep and find a way to edge it up, or let it go?

2. Not my best color, but it fits well now. Went unworn for a few years because it was tight. Ties in the back but I think I could remove the ties -- they dont affect the shape.

3. This has thin silver stripes in between the gray stripes but that doesn't show in pics. This always feels a little short and a little stiff. Pass it on?

I have more coming too. TIA for weighing in!

Ok so I'm going to be brutal. #1 reminds of what a receptionist would wear on her first job. I kinda like #2, but it doesn't seem like you anymore. #3 is nice, but maybe a smidge dated.

I think these are all orphans for a reason- they're not quite right for you and you're just not going to feel great in any of them.

The only one that I could see possibly keeping is #1, but only if you're layering it. The little puffy sleeves just don't seem worthy of your current style.

I vote to let them all go to a new home.

Really, they don't seem to fit with your current style. Nothing wrong with them in themselves, just less than your stellar best.

Hm, I love the first - so fun and flirty, and great rich color for you. It pairs so nicely with your dark wash jeans. I'm not sure what to suggest to keep it from being a closet orphan. Do you just feel it's too dressy? Is it the fabrication?

Not crazy about anything that ties in the back (reads maternity to me), and the second blouse is not wowing me. Perhaps it is a background piece for a more dramatic jacket or statement necklace?

I would pass on the last blouse...unless you would consider tucking? Nothing is really going to help the "too short" feeling - and it's a pet peeve of mine in that I am long waisted and always end up fussing with shirts that are just a little too short (tugging on them, etc).

Thanks, all! These responses are actually making me smile. My closet is still too full of "almosts." I have better things, I guess I just wanted some validation that I was not letting go of anything worthwhile!

# is a great color and salvageable if you lose the sleeves and use it
as a layering piece.

1. I really like it on you! Your waist looks so tiny and the colors are amazing on you.
2. I don't think this is going to flatter you at any weight.
3. I think the flaps on the bust are problematic.

I vote keep on the last 2 shirts, they are flattering. The last one looks a lot like a shirt I just bought at Banana Republic on Friday. I'm not sure how or when you'd wear the 2nd one but it looks great on you, that's why I think you should keep it but it needs to be modernized. How about a bright pair of jeans or a colorful jacket?

I really like #1, but if you haven't worn it in all that time there must be something off about it!

And anything that feels wrong on is probably more trouble than it's worth.

I think #1 would be really nice without the little sleeves. That's an easy alteration if you like it well enough. The others are just not wonderful enough to keep.

Thank you, everybody! They're all in the donation bag, with a bunch of other things I tried on and photographed, and the photographs told me the story well enough that I didn't even post them for review!

I'm kind of shocked at how much closet purging I'm *still* doing! Some of these things have been sort of invisible to me -- they were hanging in the closet amongst everything else, and I never wore them, but something kept me from pulling them out and giving them the heave-ho until last night. It feels good to let go!

Hmm, I only liked #3 as having current potential, but it's length means wearing it with a skirt. Also, if those are tabs holding the folded sleeves up, I'd lose those and just scrunch the sleeves (the tabbed thing never goes away, but always seems more dated to me than scrunched sleeves).

You may have decided to get rid of the whole lot, and I bet you won't miss any of them either. . .

Would you consider #3 for layering? I'm not sure 1 and 2 fit your current style direction. #1 is pretty but doesn't seem like you.

I hear you about 3, but it's just not very comfortable to wear. I forgot about that until I put it on. It feels like I always have to tug it down, and it won't stay tucked. Off it goes.

I think I'm spoiled-I'm used to seeing you in clothes that are a little more modern and seem to better reflect your personality. While I'd probably feel differently about some of these tops if you didn't already have other fab clothes, I think you're well justified in passing these on.
