Leonard Cohen was one of my favourite artists. I saw him perform a few times. His concerts were some of the best I went to and that is saying a lot.
Such a wonderful poet.
This is a picture of his house which is close to where we are staying in Montreal.

So sorry to have lost such a great talent. I was lucky enough to have spent a couple of evenings with him and some friends waaaayyy back in the 60s just after he published "Beautiful Losers". He had a wicked sense of humor--and was rather gorgeous, to boot!

Xtabay I saw him perform many years ago and then recently (maybe 10 years ago?). Mr. SF got tickets in the 5th row in Hamilton. Leonard was so good Mr SF sought out tickets for his show in Toronto. We ended up with amazing seats.

"Hallelujah" is "our song" and it was sung at our wedding. The Kate McKinnon version on SNL just slew me.

A book I read about Joni Mitchell said that LC was one of her lovers, and she wrote "That Song About the Midway" about him. I've always loved that song. The first verse goes:

I met you on a midway at a fair last year
And you stood out like a ruby in a black man's ear

You were playing like a devil wearing wings, wearing wings

Xtabay Yes I knew Joni and Leonard were lovers. I read "Girls like us". Have you read that book?
Mr SF bought me "I'm your man" about Leonard. Enough said.

Oh yes, SF, it was "Girls Like Us" where I read that. Fascinating book, isn't it? So many stories about the music some of us grew up with.

"I'm Your Man" -- fantastic, kudos to Mr. SF for his thoughtfulness!

I truly love LC too Style Fan. I was introduced to his music and poetry as a teenager in the 70's and my love for him has never waned. I could recite so much of his work. Each time he has toured Australia I've been to see him in concert, and yes, they were some of the very best. I've got great memories of being at a private party and a rehearsal with him too. My family know I want them to play his Hallelujah at my funeral. A very special individual indeed and his passing is a great loss to millions around the globe I'm sure.
