Hey everyone

I just tried this dress yesturday a black with red/purple flowers on them a tunic knee length .

looks good on them and the lady said you can wear a longer leggings and a ankle black boots.

Im thinking is it suitable for an older woman to wear? I think i might give it a try!

But im 5"2 i might look funny in it? And yes here in australia women are wearing leggings and the dress's with boots.

Only one way to find out! Try the look with the dress. At 44 you can ABSOLUTELY wear leggings. It made my must-have list today that cuts across all body types and ages. Vera Wang is 60 and she looks sensational in leggings. As long as you keep it sassy and sophisticated, you're in business.

I need clarification on why leggings are flattering on everyone. I just re-read Angie's blog post about leggings: http://youlookfab.com/2009/05/.....-leggings/

It just seems like if they hit you mid-calf they are shortening your leg just like a skirt would at that length? This makes the none covered part of the leg and ankle look stumpy? I would think that leggings that end at your ankle or lower would be more flattering. What am I missing?

vera44, you can absolutely wear leggings! I am 43, and they are a staple of my wardrobe. I'm also 5'3". The key is finding the right proportions of top length and legging length, seeing what works with your body.

LauraN -- I think the point is that, since leggings are tightly hugging your leg, they accentuate the calf muscle. And they need to work with other parts of the outfit to get the line that you are after.

This legging look makes sense to me. It seems really flattering as opposed to the calf length leggings...no stumpiness! Maybe the stumpiness is overlooked on calf length leggings because the calf is emphasized?! Or I'm the only one who sees "stumpy" screaming from calf length leggings.

I hear you, LauraN. I think leggings work at various lengths, with various heel heights and with various tops. You need to wear dresses and tops shorter to get rid of the “stumpy” impression when you wear calf length leggings. Note that Vera Wang is wearing 5 inch platforms WITH the ensemble. It visually raises the length of the leggings. This makes a HUGE difference. The devil is in the detail :0)

Wow Vera wong Looks good for her age!

I have a short leggings i think the dress that i saw in the shop would be to long for it need a shorter top.

Anyway I'll keep in mind to give it a go one day.
