K/T: Old slip-on sneakers

Hi,

I just unearthed a few pairs of canvas slip-on sneakers from circa 2006 or 2007. Since those are on trend at the moment, I thought I'd see if any of these have potential. My instinct is that one of these pairs might, but not so much the other two. I'm not going to say which ones, though, so I can see if other people share my instincts.

Thoughts? Don't be afraid to say none of them are worth keeping. And I'd obviously be wearing them with something besides awkwardly-hiked-up yoga pants. As always, thanks for looking!

Hi Aubergine, The slip on sneaker trend is more skate style and court shoes, like Vans and Converse make (see below).

I agree with Carter - none of these are really the shape that's on-trend, but I think the purple ones are pretty current looking and cute.

Middle ones are closer, due to higher vamp. If you really plan to wear sneaks and cropped or rolled pants a lot , I think it'd be worth updating.
"The look" is available at a lot of price points.
I do have to evaluate where to focus my updates based on whether its going to be a go- to look for me , how flattering, how far off I am or what's my substitute, how hard to find... and comfort.
There are also several casual footwear trends other than the slipon look, and you might find you want to go in one of those directions instead.

I don't know whether any of them is on trend (I was thinking as Dashielle was thinking, that the sole needs to be thicker?), but I would say that the purple ones (#2) look the best. I think it's because of the pointy toe. If they are comfy, I would probably keep them and see if you are ever moved to wear them. On the other hand...if they don't really "speak" to you, maybe it would be best to give them away, seeing as you didn't notice them when they went missing in 2007. :^)

I wouldn't keep any, I believe they are off. Get some cute new ones if you like slip ons

I'd try out the purple ones if there was an outfit they fit with perfectly, otherwise I'd browse for new ones and see if you find something that delights you.

What the others said. These particular ones are not on trend but it looks as if you wear them well, so why not look for a fun new pair and enjoy!

Thanks to everyone who replied!

First, the purple was indeed the one I thought might have a chance! The brown ones are looking a little blah to me, verging on cutesy with the little bows, and the black ones just seem totally off.

This probably isn't a look I'd wear a huge amount, but seeing so many canvas sneakers on sale and posted here had kind of got me thinking about a pair because they seem so fun, and it would be nice to have one pair of cute summery casual shoes that are a little sturdier than sandals or delicate flats. Since I already had these all in my closet, I thought I may as well pull them out and see if any of them might satisfy the urge. (And "unearthed" was probably the wrong word, since I've been wearing these all once in a while when I want to shove my feet into something really easy to go outside with a book or run to CVS, but just haven't been looking at them with any kind of critical eye.)

I think I'll keep the purple for now and see if I reach for them, and toss the other two. Maybe think about a new pair that's a little more current, and also more of a neutral. If I did get a new pair, I think it would be something like this or this. Or maybe this without the bow in the back. I feel like the types Dashielle mentioned might make me look stumpy or overwhelm my foot and aren't speaking to me as much, even though they're probably the trendiest versions. But maybe something along the lines of the versions I linked to would be a good balance?
