K/R/Exchange for Black? Ugg Convertible boots (i.e. another who can't decide)

I have the worst headache, can't find something I hid away for safe keeping, and am far too tired for work today, but still have to go. Is it okay to lean on you for some extra feedback?

I can't decide on these boots. I LOVE them with coats, my olive jacket, and my gray Gap jeggings (I live in both those things for winter casual wear), but I am wondering if they are too overpowering for work outfits. I like 'em best with tunic-length tops as in 3 and 5.

I am also thinking: with my coloring and wardrobe, is this maybe just too large an expanse of warm brown? Too hard to bookend, making things look unbalanced? Is that another reason why I haven't worn my current brown boots much? Would black would be better?

Well, as someone who has similar coloring to you, and who has had lifelong trouble with brown footwear (not counting cognac) and brown clothing in general, I vote switch to black.
At this point, I have my brown suede spat boots (which I love the style and comfort of, but which I don't wear as much as I should because of the color) and my brown heeled oxfords, which are getting bronzed just as soon as the Tarrago arrives. Honestly I'd try dying the spat boots too but I don't know how the suede would take it.

I don't think you should decide with a headache. And, I am feeling your pain having to work with one today - waving at headache sister.
Like Diana I just cannot get brown to work in my wardrobe but I love it and keep trying. I do not own any brown footwear - I buy and return it always. I have one pair of putty booties, and am eyeballing a cognac pair. For that reason I would go with black. But this comes from someone who pretty much busy exclusively black footwear.
For today I say have some tea, take some advil and be kind to your head. xo

Don't decide while you still have a headache. Rest, and when you get feeling better take a look again at the boots. If you still feel the same way, then return them for black.

I like black better for you. I think it is like bookending, but subtled up, if that makes sense. I think a slightly darker version for bookending makes for an easier match because it is subtler. For example, I find camel or caramel shoes are an easier bookend for my blonde hair than a light straw color. The truly matching color competes, rather than duplicates and compliments.

Another vote to wait until you feel better to decide, but I am leaning towards saying to try black. If brown "feels" hard to style, then maybe it's just not right. With my light hair/coloring I have a similar problem with black shoes. But I still bought a pair to wear with the Spiegel.

My issue is always feeling like I need to add boots in a different color. But in reality, I always default to black. So now my goal is to replace old black with new when needed.

So my size was sold out in black on zappos and there were only 3 left on the Ugg site. I went ahead and ordered the black to compare... I think I may finally be realizing that tall brown boots are not for me, in which case I can definitely definitely afford a black pair through reselling.

Free next day shipping = stay tuned. Dialing in foot comfort and work style sure is a long slog of trial and error.

Well, the good news is it sounds like these are worthy. I am debating how much they need to enter my closet, but obviously I don't have much time given how quickly they're selling.
