K/R Summer tops (ETA: additional styling)

For Mother's day, a friend took me shopping. I bought two summer tops. They're both NEW, and completely returnable. What do you think? My style? Fit? Color?

#1 Cobalt Tee - I sized up to get the drapey effect that I find myself wanting in summer tops. It has an assymmetrical capelet collar. I can see it going with spring green (here), white jeans, black, etc. The tee-shirt is very thin weight. Should it stay?

#2-5 I had a terrible time getting a good pic of this one, hense so many tried. It's a floral poet stop. I like it, but I'm wondering if it's too girly? Too romantic? It would go with black, my red jeans, these spring green capris, etc...

Side note, I think I should narrow the legs of these green capris, right?

Honest opinions please. You know I'm really new to trying to shop NEW clothes and paying full price and things like that. So if they need to go back, that's completely fine with me - I want to know.

ETA: Here's some additional styling.

#6 Cobalt with full-length jeans, and semi-tucked. I really want feedback on the length, because when I bought it, I though "This is my favorite length for tops". So if it doesn't work, I need to figure it out

#7-9, the floral shirt under a moto jacket, a sporty vest and a business-like jacket. It fits nicely under any of them (whether or not it actually works style-wise, I have more doubts...)

As I kind of have a Boho streak, I like the floral print top. It looks pretty and romantic on you. (And yes you could taper the green pants -- they look amazing with the top!)

Not as big a fan of the blue top but that could be because I don't care for it with the green pants. Also I'm not loving where it ends on you, it slices long-legged you in half.

Are these full tops fussy to take care of? If they need to be ironed, that's lots of pressing. If they are polyester, will they be too warm? The style might be hard to wear with a jacket or cardigan. These are just reasons I avoid tops shaped like this for myself, but if they work for your life and style then keep. It's a pretty change from plain tees or buttondowns and look breezy. They do look like they old fit with the Bohemian hippy part of your style.

Good point Denise - (and thank you!) I'll try the cobalt with long pants - I don't think it would seem so disproportional with long pants, but I want to try it to make sure...

Neither are fussy - I can't do that. The cobalt is cotton/poly, and the floral, while polyester is very very breezy and light.

I think you should narrow the green capris -- I love them.

I like the blue and the collar on you, but agree the length might be off? Or with a different colour bottom?

The floral I think fits with your style, but do consider material and if it needs to be ironed, and Joy had a good point about layering.

I always dislike posting this, but I really don't much like either of them for you. They don't feel like your style to me, and they look fussy, which if I remember correctly, you have several young boys in your life. No time for fuss!

However, you look stunning in coblat. Perhaps a nice cobalt v-neck tee, machine washable with no ironing required?

Hmm... I wonder about "Boho". Some part of me says that it's where my style is coming from, not where it's going to. And another part of me argues that I've only had any idea of style so far for winter, and boho is perfectly fun for summer. Hmmm...

not a fan of either on you. sorry. also you can look for something boho but still modern boho if that makes sense. these both look dated to me.

Thanks for your honesty Thistle and Sona (and all the others too). This is the way to learn - try things out. I really appreciate your helping me.... I'm still waffling, but leaning toward a probable return at this point.

Both are washable and not fussy cleaning-wise, btw. But I do think they're probably not as much my style as something else would be.

I hate to say it but to me, these seem more pretty-girlie than I picture your style, Ami - plus the layers are too heavy and dark for the floaty floral. What do you think?

Yes, I think I'm with you Una. My aspirational style is a lot more like yours and Kate's than like these. At least shopping with my friend was a blast!

I'm with the others -- the tops have their good points, but I'm not sure they'll move your forward. Love the green pants, and think tapering would be great. And.....love the way you're hair is looking!

What about a floral in a more structured shape? Or, conversely a boho top in a more abstract, modern print? What about the cobalt in a woven, floaty top -- simple and just a tad boxy to go over your skinnies? Love those white slouchy skinnies!

Just some ideas!
