K/R: Slouchy Pants, t-shirt & magenta blazer

I met Dianthus today for the first time and we spent the day shopping - it was lovely! ! I guess you could call it a mini YLF gathering (can two be a "gathering"?). We tried on all sorts of things - some hits, some misses.

Now something strange happened to me during this shopping expedition - I not only tried on something I thought I would NEVER try on, I actually bought it! Yep...slouchy pants. Dianthus convinced me they were worth trying on and I did. So below is an entire outfit I bought today. No tags are ripped off yet so if there are any serious "what the heck were you thinking" comments, they can be taken back.

The magenta blazer is from Jacob and I really the colour and the fit. I was hoping for a green blazer for spring but nothing I tried on worked and this colour just "popped" when I put it on.

The tee and the slouchy pants are from Anne Klein - the pants are like wearing pajama bottoms, only I hope they look a little dressier (lol!). They have a nice wide waistband so sit very comfortably. The drape is beautiful, the pockets well placed on the back (sorry - no backside pics) and the colour is a great neutral. They are technically a cropped pant, but not on my short legs. I've paired them with a t-shirt that has the same colour as the pants in it, as well as magenta. To try and keep my leg line looking longer despite the shortening effect of the pants, I'm wearing my Boutique 9 peep-toe oxfords.

Ok...let me have it...have I lost my mind liking these silky, slouchy pants? Should they go back or can they work. In my mind, it works as long as I keep the top structured...but hey, I could be wrong!

BTW I must have tried on 20 different kinds/styles of white denim and NOTHING!

Yes you have lost your mind in a good way!! These pants are fun! I really like the whole outfit on you. How great that you were able to meet Dianthus!! I call that a mini-meet up

I'm SO glad she made you try these trousers. I love the taupe color and the drape and sheen of the fabric. And the ankle scrunch!!! Angie will have the final word of course but I REALLY like these on you. The T looks like a nice blouse and that blazer is To. Die. For. Put away any thoughts of green and *love the one you're with*. This is a wonderful color on you and perfect, not only for spring, but with this outfit. I love the peep toe oxfords, too! What does the top look like untucked/belted? Is it really long? The way you have it *does* give you that nice long leg line!

I'd say you had a pretty fabulous day Shannon, and you look FAB!

Two for two. The pics look good but the pants look even better in person. They are a gorgeous warm color that should work with almost any other color or be a neutral backdrop for a print. The pink jacket is gorgeous too. The pink makes Shannon's face come alive. Beautiful pairing.

It was so much fun to meet Shannon and she is just as nice in person as she is on YLF. I am already looking forward to another shop and hope Lyn can make it next time.

I haven't got my head entirely around the concept of slouchy pants yet, but they seem to suit you very well. My only question is are they a bit too wide through the hip, or is that the effect of pleats? Hopefully Angie will weigh in on the subject! I LOVE the colour of the jacket on you!

So... I thought I would hate this, but I don't! I think the voluminous pants would be cute with a cheeky little jacket as well. Or maybe your striped vince camuto tiered top!

That is so fun that you two got to shop together! Sometimes it's good to try on things you think you would hate, as you have just shown! I think everything looks great and I love the color of your jacket!

Maybe I can be a voice of dissent and say that I don't think these pants do you justice. I think they are quite nice for slouchy pants, and you have found shoes that are perhaps an ideal match for this pant style, and yet I still don't "get" them. I am also not too fond of their color for some reason. Just my 2 cents, feel free to disregard.

Thanks for the "back up" Dianthus! It was a wonderful day, wasn't it? YLF continues to bring the world together! Interesting responses so far, wouldn't you say? (Dianthus and I were wondering what the feedback would be like since this is sooooo very different for me).

Rae - too funny ("I thought I would hate this but I don't"). That was kind of my reaction too!

I love that jacket on you Shannon. I think I like the pants, but because the jacket covers them up it is hard to see the fit. And they might be a tiny bit long as is. Love the rough silk look to them, love the color, and love them with the peep toe shoes. Hmm hard to say - looks like a case for Angie!

I am mixed too but I like the color, the fabric and the fit at top of pant. I need Angie to tell me they aren't just a little long? I think they could be very fun.

Thanks Shevia and Christieanne - I agree that the pants could probably use a little shortening. I'm not really sure how much "scrunch" is appropriate with this type of pant and fabric. But that's an easy fix.

I like the pants, but I would love them more if they were lower on your hips, I think....but I'm not sure these pants exist!

I love the whole outfit! Really cool color combination and very flattering for your complexion/coloring.

I agree the pants would look sleeker shortened. Unless the bunching at the ankles/stacking look is the way slouchy pants are supposed to be worn? I haven't ventured into slouchy pants territory. Yet.

I think they look fab on you and I love the whole shebang! I agree about shortening a pinch. Do they wrinkle? That's the only thing I would worry about, especially given the lighter color (i.e., lots of wrinkling around the crotch zone from sitting in them).

You know I am all about slouch! I love these and think once shortened you will find lots of ways to wear them. I agree with Rae that a cropped fitted blazer would really set them off.

BUT what I really covet is shopping time with another YLFer!

Shannon these look fabulous. And you have styled them to perfection. This has probably already been said but the color of the shoes with the color of the pants really creates a nice long line. Gorgeous.
