K/R: SE Petty leopard & 9W Sosie black booties (ETA--more choices)

I've been happily wearing the heck out of my Mia Nanette lace-up ankle boots (I have them in black and brown) with both skirts and pants, but the heels are 2.75 inch and as I get bigger, it's getting less comfortable to walk in heels. I also have my Frye Melissa lace-up knee high boots which are flat, but sometimes I don't want to wear such a tall boot. So I'm looking for some flat ankle booties because sometimes it's a little cold for my ballet flats, and I need something dressier than my Converse and Merrell Mocs to wear to work.

What do you think of these two booties? (please excuse the horribly mismatched and unstyled outfits, I was too tired to create actual outfits to match the boots, so I hope you can use your imagination). I bought these both in 7.5 which is my normal size, and am wearing without socks. I need one black, one brownish, and they need to work with both jeans and skirts/dresses. Which of these two styles looks better on me? If you don't like these--any other suggestions? Hoping to keep heel height around 1.5 inch or less.

The Petty boots I know have gotten good reviews here and a lot of you have them. I thought leopard would be a fun option for the "brown" ones--I have a pair of leopard ballet flats (and high heel pumps too, but not wearing those now). But is this much leopard too overwhelming? Should I go for a plain brown bootie in a different style instead (they don't have a true brown, only a putty which I don't like)?

These are a little bit more comfy than the Petty booies on me (both are OK, but this one is a bit roomier). I ordered the black leather, but wondering if this is too plain and blocky...should I go for black suede instead? I do have skinny ankles so I get a gap around the ankles--is that OK or does it look like I'm wearing flower pots on my feet?

By the way, PSA--looks like my Mia Nanette boots are on sale at Amazon for $37 (75% off), what a screaming deal! Hope someone snags a pair! These are in a Natural color, which is lighter than the brown ones I have.

I can't say I'm a fan of the Pettys in the leopard. Maybe it's the amount of leopard or the scale of the dots, not sure.

I have them in the snakeskin and they are okay for fit and comfort though.

I like the black booties - very chic toe shape and height

It is interesting but on my Petty booties were roomier than NW Sosie - go figure!
I like leopard but then I really like interesting footwear for my minimal style.
Black booties look good, I don't mind he ankle gaping.
I think it should boil down to comfort and how you feel about them!

I've been loving a lot of the print booties on the forum, but somehow this leopard print is drawing me in --- I think it might be the scale of the print.

I like the black booties, although I do the suede would be richer. However, in your climate, would you get more use out of the leather?

I like the leopard ones, but then I am partial to them to start. I have shoes with a similar pattern also by Sam Edelman. The shoes are not very comfortable, though, but I like the way they look.

I think the black boots look big around he ankle. Given you propensity for lux looks and lots of texture, I think suede would be better, but not sure how well that would work in your climate.

Have your feet been swelling? I know for me, the last trimester my feet swelled pretty badly, and the only thing I could comfortably wear were Danskos.

I like the leopard, but it is a LOT of leopard (and that's saying something coming from me) I think they are great with pants, but a bit shocking with skirts and not as versatile as something a little less graphically bold.
The black Sosie's are nice and the gap looks like enough for you to be able to walk. I do think I'd prefer them in suede or another color since they are so simple.

I want to like the SE leopard booties, but there is something about the size of the print that has me on the fence. You can't go wrong with the black booties, I've been eyeing those, too. Just a great basic bootie in a lower heel, suede would be nice as well.

I thought hubby really objected to animal print on you. Not that you should only wear what he likes, but I got the sense that his feeling about it made you feel less excited about wearing it.

The black ones are very nice, but they are basic. Knowing you, I think you'd be happier with a little more flair

Natalie, I have the Nine West in grey and I love them, I am not a fan of the Edelmans in the leopard print, did you try the snakeskin?

If I were you, I'd try the Petty booties in Python. They seem to go well with many, many colors - brown draws out the brown, black the black, etc. They also don't have the same overwhelming graphic effect that the leopard seems to have. I'm also not a fan of the way the leopard print meets at that seam down the middle...

The black are basic and maybe a bit loose around the ankle. Your footwear is usually more fun than these! Plain and simple definitely has its place, though.

Are you influenced by the price? One of my goals is to ignore price, and I find it very liberating. For example, would you have ordered the leopard SE at full price? If so, keep! Similarly with the black booties.

For what it is worth, I'm not a fan of the leopard for you, remembering DH's reaction before. I do love the black booties, but I may be influenced by my love of simple lines; you may want to look for a more ALGO bootie.

I like the black, but I vote return the leopard. They come across as house slippers from afar.

Absolutely love the black pair Natalie and think they will be incredibly versatile for you. I think the leopard might be harder to style and although I like them with trousers, I'm not as keen on them with skirts.

I weirdly like the leopard...but I think the black is a better bet for you, Natalie. You tend to wear more skirts than pants (and I prefer them with pants) and also you love to pattern mix throughout the outfit so a plainer shoe is often a plus in your case. (I am like Sveta - more minimal style but like the patterned accessories.)

By the way, may I just add that you are looking fab??

You know what is weird? I have 2 pairs of Petty boots (putty and python) and they don't have that seam in the middle like the leopard ones...
What have you decided?

Would pass on the leopard. It is just somehow not a good iteration of animal print. Too spotty, plus the seam is weird.

I think all of you hit the nail on the head. The leopard booties print is too overwhelmingly loud and I know DH is going to hate them. The black ones are so plain & boring and look a little like short rain galoshes. I do want something with more "flair". I'm not in love with either of them so I'm going to keep looking. Here are some more options I'm considering--can anyone help me narrow them down?

I'm really liking #1 for you....it has a touch of motorcycle for the W , but is rouched for the P (in UWP). I think you would have fun adding them to your wardrobe....

I bought the 18s, SM Troopa, based on all the great reviews. Also ordered them in brown.

I wore the Troopa out, and realized there is some kind of plastic or cardboard along the top of the foot, which is digging into my foot. The boots are currently at the cobblers for stretching, but I'm worried. I will be returning the brown boots. I read more deeply into the reviews on Zappos and realized that some buyers noted a split in the sole, which is not fixable.

I bought these moto'ish boots in black and LOVE them. They are super comfy, great low heel height. Love them so much, I ordered a second pair in the natural!

Have you also considered the VC Dassia? These have a very nice close fit around the upper ankle.

Thanks guys! I ordered 1-4 from Zappos to try on (I'm a big orderer/returner). Zap, I'm returning the leopard booties for sure, but I'm going to hang on to the black Sosies for a few days until I can compare to the Riekers to see which ones are more comfy. If the Riekers don't work out, the Mias are next up on my list. Kristin, thanks for letting me know about the Troopa. That's too bad about the quality. They look like they would work for me with the lace-up style and flat heel, which is what I need, but I'll hold off if the quality is bad. Thanks for the other suggestions--they look really cool, but the heels are 2 inches or higher and I really want to stick to a flatter heel since that was the whole purpose (since I already have the heeled Mia booties but need something lower).
