My gigantic Nordstrom shoe order arrived today. In it were the Munro leopard slipper flats (1-5), the gold Born loafers (6), the snake Danskos (7) and the isaac mizrahi gold zipper boots (8-9), among other things.
The only one up for K/R really is the Munros. The Danskos and the Borns both won't work for my feet, although I really like the looks of both. The gold zipper boots are, like so many others, too galoshy. Still, I've included pics and commentary in case others were interested in trying these.
First up, Munro Jerries (1-5). These come in a million colors/materials and many of them were on sale. I chose the leopard suede. The leopard is a little more brown than I would like (I like my leopard more golden) but I can live with it. Wonder of wonders, they actually do not slip off my heels (Suz, are you reading this????). See in photo 5, how I'm pointing one foot? With most other slip-ons, the shoe would be flat on the floor while my foot lifted out. My 3/4 length superfeet even fit inside, providing decent arch support. They are comfy and the front sole does not feel too thin. So, comfort wise they are amazing. How is the look though? #5 is not really styled, I just wanted to show you what they look like in proportion to my body.
The Born Ginni loafers (#6) are really cool looking, and I like that they are both pointy and clunky. Unfortunately the heels slip and are too deep for me, so they are going back. But they'd be great for someone with a wider and deeper heel. I'd say they run a tiny bit large, but not large enough that I could go down a size.
The Dansko Olivias (#7) in bronze snake are super cute! Unfortunately they slip at the heel like you would not believe. They were literally falling off at the first step I took. Again, would probably work great if your heel was not so narrow.
Last we have the Isaac Mizrahi Arno gold zipper boots. I had high hopes for these because the measurements seemed perfect and the price was reasonable. Unfortunately the galoshes problem strikes again! They look nice from the side but super baggy in the ankle/lower calf from the front. Actually if you had a wider leg all over these would probably be great; my calves are 15" and the back stretch panel is not stretched at all on me. I would guess these would fit calves at least an inch or two wider than mine. But you'd also need ankles larger than my 7.5-8".
So... keep or return the Munros? Everything else is going back.
