K/R leather jacket - YouLookFab Forum

Hola! Long time no see! I haven't been shopping much at all, but suddenly am back in the mood to fill in all the wardrobe gaps, coupled with wanting to go in a different style direction (which would be a separate post). Particularly, I've been wanting at least one nice, go-to leather jacket for ages. This one came up suddenly in the current Nordstrom sale. Bernardo. It's a nice, neutral olive color and it is very well made.

It came yesterday and when I put it on, my first reaction was No. It made my bust look even more gigantic (but a lot of jackets do...). I wasn't sure I liked the collar. Et cetera. Now I'm having more positive thoughts, but not sure. It really has to be great.

It is a Petite Large, and there are no more XLs left. I find that when something fits well in the bust, it ends up being too large elsewhere, so I accept that my body is really tricky to fit well.

I include one pic of the jacket zipped up, just to show that I can. It is obviously snug, but I would want to wear it open anyway.

Is it really stellar? I tend to return 90% of what I buy, so I won't feel bad if this gets a thumbs-down.

Mochi! Soooo nice to see you here.

I love it! (well, of course, says the queen of jackets) I almost never zip up my leather jackets, and many of mine do something similar at the bust if I try, so if you don't plan to wear them closed up like that, then I think it's fine. I really like the color as an interesting soft neutral alternative to black or brown, and the style and fit look really good on you.

Curious to hear more about your new direction. I know that you've been tackling lots of new and exciting territory in your life over the last couple of years.

The jacket seems to fit you well. Even when it's closed it looks snug rather than tight.

Hi and thank you for the fast replies! (I'll be heading out the door in a minute, so will be checking back later.) Janet, coming from you that is an extra-special compliment!

My style thoughts are to bring in more femininity to balance out (but not crowd out) the androgyny and rough edge that I have always gone with. It's very daunting. I would definitely need a separate post, and a lot of advice from you all.

I agree with Janet on fit and color. My leather jacket is tight in the bust too, and I have no bust. The shoulder fit looks good.

It is a beautiful jacket. I think it is stunning on you -- good fit and the color is fabulous. I have the same issue with the bust on jackets. I go mostly with shoulder fit and wear them open.

Great colour - I would love to have an olive green leather/faux jacket , so interesting ! I have that same issue with fit - small ribcage and larger bust , means nothing fits zipped up . But like others here, I never wear my leather jackets zipped up - ever - and go with how it fits through the shoulders and upper arms.

I think the most important fit point on jackets is the shoulders and these seem to fit well. It is a great looking jacket!

How do you feel about the length? I confess to hating drafts and like my jackets to cover the waist of my pants...

It looks good on you to me and echoing what others are saying about almost always wearing my leather jacket partly or all the way unzipped (or getting that Storm from the x-men bust containment thing, which is fine for short periods).

You might want to test that it works (open) over various weights of underlayers including sweaters though. If the arms are too tight under most underlayers, that would limit wears to my thinking.

I get that bust thing too. I think it's just a function of leather motos and any sort of bust at all. If I wear mine zipped, I only zip it up to about mid-bust and fill in the rest with a scarf or something, which mitigates the squishing somewhat.

It looks good. How does it look in the back? I always have a problem with the backs of leather jackets being too long and bunching up around the back waist, but since I don't think you have quite the ski slope in back that I do, it's probably not as much of an issue. As long as the back and shoulders/arms feel good, I think it's a keeper. Love the color on you.

Is it soft leather? If so it will conform to fit you over time, like a shoe. I really like the color and the style. I do prefer my jackets to be able to close, or look like they can. Would you be wearing it with a thin layer or as outerwear over winter clothing?

Hi again. Yes, re the underlayers, I would probably be wearing this as a spring and fall jacket with light layers like a t-shirt. I run pretty warm so that would work for me.

I just checked the back. It doesn't look gappy or puckery, so that's good.

Una, I also like to have something that closes comfortably. But nothing fits me like that. It would have to be too big at the hips for the bust to fit.

rachy, it does just cover my waist. As I mentioned, I don't get that cold, so I don't mind, as long as it were to look good.

lisap--arms seem to fit well! I'd probably get a better length in the waist if it were not a petite size. But then the arms would be way too long. Shoulders are fine.

Thanks again! I'm going to sit on this purchase for now, but am feeling more positive toward it.

Oh my gosh. It looks amazing on you!! Please keep it unless it feels horridly constricting to the point where you know you won't wear it. Love it on you!!!

I think it looks good on you and fits in the shoulders and back. I say keep it, especially as you plan to wear it open most of the time.

What a fabulous color --- that makes it unique. I only zip my motos when it's freezing cold! I think the look is quite flattering. Do you see this as outerwear, or will you wear it indoors, mostly?
