K/R: Is white all right? - YouLookFab Forum

Hi, everyone. Sorry I've been scarce here this week.

I forget how and when it came up, but probably I was talking about the need for a softer, more feminine jacket, as well as something good for summer. Diana suggested a white denim jacket. I hadn't ever considered one, but went straight and ordered this Kut From the Kloth one Angie has as one of her picks.

I have no qualms about wearing white or light colors as bottoms, because my lower half is relatively slim. I'm very top-heavy, and worry that white might not be good for me up top. So one, is this a nice look for me, and two, do you recommend I size up one size? I don't plan to button the jacket, so it would be an aesthetic choice. (ETA that this is the largest size they have, so I'd be foregoing the jacket, or keeping this one.)

It looks good to me. The sleeves look a little long but you could solve that by rolling.
I would wear a longer top though.
Thr top is nice on its own.

I think the jacket looks good but agree on the sleeves being too long. That is easily fixed with rolling though.

I like them both. I would say if the jacket is comfortable then it's a keeper and love the gray color of the top.

Scrunch the jacket sleeves to achieve a shorter length.

GREAT blouse - and very in line with Monday's post about deemphasizing the bust. Perhaps you can comment about that on the post.

Thanks, Angie and everyone else. I'm out now with a different jacket. I don't remember feeling a tightness in the arms but I'll have to try it again this evening. The jacket fabric is nice and soft, by the way. I'm used to the stiffness of the jeans jackets of my youth It's really a very nice piece and I can see getting a lot of use out of it and it has a great graphic quality.

I will comment on the Joie blouse too.

I like your outfit with the white jacket. Just roll or scrunch the sleeves. It looks very crisp and ready for spring. The shoes look great, too.

Thanks. So thought occurred to me: I could reorder this in petite and the sleeves would be a little shorter but I'm assuming the jacket would also be more cropped in length. Would it just be better to scrunch? That's a nice look anyway.

Order in petite and compare both jackets side by side. Maybe petite will be better but you may want to order one size up as petite sizes run smaller.
I have the same jacket, it's very versatile and brightens almost any outfit.

I do like the length of this jacket. Do you wear jackets that are more cropped than this one? If so, it might be worth getting the petite.

Keep it. White is great for summer and I think the fit is fine. You won't be layering sweaters under it---probably just shirts/blouses, but in any case I don't think it looks too small.

I think the jacket and blouse look great. I like the look of folded sleeves with a bit of scrunch.

The photo with you in the jacket is all about the jacket. The photo with you in the blouse is simply a lovely portrait of you. I think you glow in warm, soft colors.

I think the fit is good on either one. It doesn't look too small to button, which would be a deal breaker, imho, even if you weren't going to button it.

Mochi, I think a denim jacket looks best when the fit is a bit snug. If it feels nice and easy all around, it generally looks quite boxy. Sometimes this is "a look," but if it's not the look you're going for, a little on the snug side seems like the right place to be.

I always roll and scrunch my denim jacket sleeves. Even if they aren't too long, they just look better that way.

I like it and think it's actually slimming on top as you're wearing it. Sort of the way those dresses with a darker vertical middle and lighter lines outside work.

I find Laura's comment so interesting.

White isn't generally a color I gravitate toward anyway (though I love it on others). My closest favorite is cream or ivory. Optic white can be intense.

I think it looks crisp and fun. I understand what you say about proportions and how white emphasizes a body part, except somehow a white jacket, in particular this one, seems above the rules: it just looks wonderful on you. Practical, cute, smart.
