K/R: hot pink tunic

I found this inexpensive hi-low tunic at the Rack in my quest for color and pattern - the print, color and style struck me as very Indian. Is it frumpy? Out of date? Or anything else questionable?

Please ignore undone hair, socks and bad posture!

I agree that's it's very Indian. I like pink and like to pair it with my winter neutrals of black and grey. I don't think it's frumpy but I'm not sure it's something I would have picked out for you. How do you feel about it? Can you put together several outfits with it? It's going to be a statement piece that people remember.

Thanks for the feedback, ladies! What would you suggest on the bottom? This is how it would be worn in India (or with bright green!).

Sara, IKWYM. I do feel like myself in it because of the Indian vibe. This is a size S - XS was too tight in the shoulders, as usual.

Hmm. I'm with bj1111. Maybe with lighter blue denim? I do agree that it has an Indian vibe, but it doesn't strike me as particularly you.

On my screen, the socks bookend it beautifully! Hot pink is such an invigorating color. It looks like you're having fun with it!

Would this top work in a colorful loungewear capsule? I don't mean that as a demotion; I adore my loungewear.

Well, it's a silky crepelike poly material so it was intended for work... I would not wear it to lounge because of the fabric. It can be tucked in.

I do like the Indian vibe it has... And the color is very invigorating. Was thinking of wearing for Diwali this weekend with harem pants - but have not cut tags.

Why is it so hard to find edgy pattern in color?

I love it! It looks very Indian to me, and I can see it with bright green as well! The socks are awesome. I'm always sad to cover up my bright, pretty socks with dark footwear.

It is different and brighter than much of what we usually see you in... but that might be a good thing, since you haven't been thrilled with a lot of your things lately. I especially don't recall seeing you in many Indian-influenced items. Part of why I like this on you so much. If you do feel happy, go for it!

Re: your questions, it does not look frumpy, nor questionable. I'm not the best judge of out of date... On Monday I happily wore a skirt that had a receipt from 1958 in the pocket...

Hmm, I'd like to see it with wider-leg pants. I think the volume is too much for those skinnies, but I like the idea of it with harem pants or similar.

The color is super. And matching socks!!

I think this is a fun inexpensive wildcard. Great with denim, or green pants, or the right black pants too. I love the colour on you.

Love the color but it would depend how the material looks up close. I find the problem with some prints is the material can really cheapen the look. But for an inexpensive top for a specific purpose it looks terrific.

Oh gosh, I'd read the fabric all wrong; it looked like quilting cotton on this screen.

Anyone know about having tops custom made? Seems like it might be easier to find fabrics and have a pattern fitted, than to keep searching retail. But maybe I'm too easily wearied.

Oooh, what fun! The boldness of pink, worn not for its sweetness, can be edgy in itself. It might be a wildcard, but it will be a welcome bright spot in a long winter, and it doesn't break the bank. It would work well with cream, taupe or toffee pants or leggings, too.

This is a really different look than I've seen you in. I love Indian fabrics and this is a beautiful example. The top looks really good from the side view, too. I like it with black like you are wearing in the photo.

I really like this top although I do have a soft spot for bright pink. My first thought was that it didn't feel like "you" to me but I think that's because we mostly see you posting darker, edgier outfits and not as many Indian inspired. Looking at if from the Indian inspired I think it is "you" and you should go for it. It's not a big investment right? So if you enjoy it for awhile and then tire of it no biggie.

nodding along with AviaMariah...this feels like something I would buy because I liked the color, at the moment, and then I'd wear it once or twice, but ultimately, because it was so different from the rest of what I owned, it just didn't fit in. so if its not a big investment, and your ok with limited wears, enjoy it for the moment.

It was only $20. I could get it taken in but I can't size down because I couldn't get the XS over my shoulders. Will have to style and consider. I think it's got a trapeze shape but will see what's up with better styling.
