K/R: Booties, skinnies and a sweater, plus WIW today

1-4. Old navy cobalt blue skinnies in petite! They never have petites so this was a pleasant surprise. The striped sweater is also from ON. I tried the skinnies on with some flats, booties and boots. What do you think?

5-8. I was looking for a pair of booties that I could wear with dresses and skirts, but I'm starting to think that this is not a look I can pull off. These are Clarks, and it turns out that my old pair are *very* similar. The new ones are on the left, the old ones are on the right. Are these worth keeping even though they are so similar?

8-9. WIW today. I tried the booties on with the skirt, but I feel like it's very stump-ifying. I ended up with the pumps in #9 instead. Again, trying my hand at belting and a different silhouette. How did I do?

I'm unsure about the booties - do the old ones have a lot of wear left in them? And did you like the old ones? Or are you looking for a replacement?

I think the pumps look better with a bare leg. Have you tried a dark hose with the booties and the skirt?

Love the skinnies. The boots are very similar to my eye, so I'd probably pass. As for it being a look you can or can't pull off, have you thought about a style closer to a shoe than a boot? I bought a pair of Clarks that looked great, but the heel was too high for me (2.5). They would've fit my bootie search perfectly... but I had to return them.

I'd pass on the booties - too similar. I'd try dark tights too. Love the belt with the pumps.

lyn, I like the old ones ok. My feet ache at the end of the day so they could be more comfy. The new ones seem very comfy ... Wearing them around the house now to assess comfort level. I don't really need a replacement though. I haven't tried booties with dark hose. You are right, less contrast would be better.

Oooh love those skinnies! They look great on you. With the booties, I'd say that they are pretty similar too. I'd probably return them and look for something that was an entirely different style than what you already have.

I've been struggling with booties and dresses too, so you are not alone. Love the outfit with the pumps. It is a more traditionally flattering outfit. The booties would be one of those figure flattering priorities issue: are you more interested in a fashion forward outfit and willing to sacrifice some figure flattery for it, or is your priority figure flattery first and fashion forward second? I know for me it is always figure flattery first.

Those skinnies are FANTASTIC on you! Way to go! The sweater is cute on you, too.

I agree with other comments about the booties being too similar to your others. I would go for some that are a bit more different. As to the look with dresses, I personally think it works great on you. BUT I will acknowledge it takes some getting used to. I got my very first pair of booties to wear with dresses last year and really had to break myself into the look by wearing toned hose (toned to my skirt and shoe). That way you retain the long leg line. Pumps will always look more ladylike, so if that is your style direction, that is where you need to go. But booties are more fashion forward. Sometimes we plaly it one way, and sometimes another!

The booties are too similar to your old ones. That said I actually prefer them with the skirt than the skinnies!! I don't think you look stumpified at all. What bugs me with the skinnies is how they don't really stay tucked in. Sure you could roll them like you've done but will you really wear them this way? I don't know... this is what bugs me about booties w/skinnies in general.

k can shop, Suz and Janet, I think you're right, it is a look that I am not used to on myself. I really love it on others though. I think my main priority is figure flattery and elongating my leg line since I am so petite, so I will try it with the tights. However, that experiment will have to wait until the temp dips below 90s. Just wearing the sweater for the pictures made me break out in a sweat much less tights! I am such a beginner, and I think being fashion forward is an advanced level class

Shiny, I know what you mean about the skinnies. I have always worn my booties with bootcut pants, but booties are all the rage now with skirts and skinnies. I don't like the look of them tucked in either and prefer the rolled look but only just slightly.

I think I will return these and look for a different bootie to go with my skirts and dresses. At least the skinnies worked out Thanks again, ladies!
