K/R Bernardo Timber (It's a No, More Options Below)

The Bernardo Timber came, and, while it's miles above the other jackets I tried, I feel like it might be a little big?

I've tried on so many too-small jackets that I don't really trust my judgement as to what a good fit feels/looks like. The arms feel huge, but I'm also just wearing a tank underneath (it's a housework day) so styling for autumn might help.

What do you think? Is this the one? Contrary to the others, where I couldn't size up, sizing down isn't possible in this one. These are the perils of cusp-sizing.

It does look a little big buy trying with a sweater layer under it may make a big difference.

I LOVE the color. Finally a jacket that's long enough!!!

It does look big, Jenn. But then all my winter jackets look big over my summer clothes. Do u wear a sweater underneath Jackets in winter? (I do) Or do you simply wear a full sleeved tshirt underneath? Wear exactly the layers you'd be wearing in REAL winter & fall and then evaluate.

The jacket doesn't look boxy or baggy, which I like. I prefer a slightly big jacket to a tight-as-hell jacket where I've got to hold my breath to zip up any day of the week!!! For what it's worth, my leather jacket fits exactly like this when zipped up. I always buy a size big so that jacket can zip comfortably over my large bust....I'm not big on wearing jackets open a lot.

More info: I rarely zip up my jackets, and I probably wouldn't wear a chunky sweater underneath, but long sleeves maybe, possibly a lightweight cardigan. This is an autumn/spring/warm winter jacket in my climate.

I like the color, too, and the leather is lovely. (And yes, Maneera, finally one that's long enough! Yay!) This does have knit panels under the arms, which make me feel like the sleeves are supposed to fit more snugly, but again, maybe my fit parameters are off. The reviews say that the jacket runs small, but I'm not feeling that at all.

It's 90/32° out right now and I don't have AC upstairs, so I'll try to style it appropriately in the morning when it's cooler.

Ledonna, nope, can't size down. This is a 1X, which is the smallest this style goes. The XL I tried from the same brand (slightly different style) was too short.

Jenn, I think Suz is on to something. To me it's just the sleeves that seem too wide and if there is a knit panel your instinct are probably right about the fit. The rest of the jacket seems fine. The knit sleeve sections will probably make for a relatively easy alteration.

I feel your pain on the in between sizing perils. They need a 0X!!!

I hope you can find a way to tweak it as IMHO it is verrrrry close to being perfect.

I adore the color and style and can totally see you rocking this 1000 ways.

Hmm, I just tried it on again over a ls tee, and I'm not convinced the problem is just in the arms. It's camouflaged by the diagonal zippers on the pockets, but I'm seeing the issue I have with a lot of plus-sized items, in that it's cut for more of an apple-shaped body and doesn't nip in as much at the waist. I can easily grab a few inches at the waistline in back when this is zipped up.

Okay, I realized I'm going to have a houseful of teenage boys around tomorrow, so I went ahead and toted everything downstairs for some styled photos. I still think it might be too big...seems sloppy in the front, although it looks pretty great from the back, IMO

Yes, one more is still coming (I ordered on 7/28 and it's STILL not here). It's the same brand as the worst of the lot, though, so not a lot of hope there.

Firecracker, I found that in the pro shop when we were in Seattle last December. I pointed it out to my husband and then pointedly turned my back. It was under the Christmas tree two weeks later.

Ivy, you'd think it meant we have twice the range to choose from, but somehow, what it really works out to is twice as many items that don't fit. It's not a smooth curve from straight to plus sizes.

Too bad, Jenn. I liked this jacket. But if you wear it open, it looks a size too big. So this isn't "The One" either.

Agree it is too big - I noticed it in the shoulders. I am with shoulder fit what Angie is with leg length. I mean on others. I am not so good at seeing myself, alas.

Oh darn it! This color was really nice. Hoping you will be pleasantly surprised by the next (even if the first in the brand was bad just maybe this one will work). And yes, noticed the scarf...!
